Principal Notes
Dear Parents,
Here comes October with all of the accompanying activities that make childhood so much fun. The Fall Fest is almost always noted by our students as their favorite St. Philip event of the year. And Halloween of course is a holiday always enjoyed by children. As you start to plan your child's costume, please remember that we are a Catholic elementary school, so costumes should be in accordance with our values. In other words, no bloody violence or super sexy costumes. Also, dress code rules still apply meaning no midriffs, short shorts, shoulderless clothing.
Tomorrow we meet in School Families and we'll be celebrating St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis's message of love fits perfectly with our Choose Love program. Be sure to ask your child about what they did and learned in family activity about the fruits of the Spirit and how they help us to live God's love.
On another note; Fall Festival sign ups begin tomorrow, Tuesday, October 2 at 9 pm. Please see the flyer regarding sign up information. You can also go to
www.signupgenius.com
to sign up for your Fall Festival hours. Scroll to the bottom to "Find a Sign Up," and enter [email protected] If you try to log in before 9 pm you may see a message telling you that you need an access code. After 9 pm that message will be gone. Remember, with the shorter festival hours you no longer need to volunteer for six hours. You only need to sign up for four hours. We all appreciate how much our parents do to support the school.
Please pray for and work for peace,

For the safety of the students, no one may be on the campus without permission from the school office. As a general rule, when you sign in and out of an event, ESPECIALLY Fall Fest and Red Tie Ball, please use your CHILD'S LAST NAME. Many times people sign in using a maiden name or a married name that is not affiliated with your child. For service hours purposes, we track everything by your child's last name. To ensure proper credit, it is essential to list your child's last name in addition to your last name.
Please also use your Child's last name when sending an email to inquire about service hours.
FALL FEST
Please remember you you must sign IN and OUT of fall fest AND log your hours online. As is for all volunteer work, no one submits your hours for you.
PTO & Room Parents
Log your hours as one submission (you can do this now if you have not already). One submission for your full hours. No one will log these on your behalf.

Are you ready to do a really good deed and knock off your four parish hours in one fell swoop? Did you know that there are approximately 500 homeless people sleeping on the streets of Pasadena every night? This is a great opportunity to help alleviate an on-going problem in our community, to personally provide a great example to your children, and to feel really good about yourself in a lasting way.
Consider preparing and serving dinner to the homeless of Pasadena on the fourth Sunday of the month. St. Philip the Apostle School is looking for adult volunteers to purchase food (for which you will be reimbursed) and to lead six eighth graders in preparing and serving dinner to 60 homeless men and women at the Union Station Shelter on Raymond Avenue in Pasadena. Service hours will count for either the school or the parish, whichever you prefer. For details, contact Mimi Stolpe at [email protected]
