Doc Watson
The late Arthel "Doc" Watson was one of the most beloved and musically adept performers on the American music scene. Born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, Doc had been delighting audiences for nearly fifty years with his wonderful singing and spectacular guitar musicianship. With more than 25 albums, four Grammys, numerous awards and countless live performances, Doc will forever remain a "national music treasure," a true master of traditional guitar styles. Doc passed away on May 29, 2012 but his legacy is carried on through MerleFest, the great Americana music event that he founded more than 30 years ago.

Toby Walker is a fingerstyle guitar virtuoso, especially adept at blues, rags and hot country picking. He is also a skilled singer and songwriter who draws inspiration from traditional and contemporary music, having learned directly from blues masters Eugene Powell, James "Son" Thomas, Etta Baker and R. L. Burnside, among others.
Toby takes that musical foundation and creates something uniquely his own. He has been eagerly received in concert halls, festivals and coffeehouses throughout the U.S., England and Europe. Toby has been featured in the N.Y. Times, London Sunday Times, Elmore Magazine, Downbeat and Blues Revue, among many others.

Roy Book Binder
Roy learned to play the blues from Rev. Gary Davis, Pink Anderson and other legendary bluesmen. Since then, he has been on the road spreading his unique brand of "hillbilly country blues" for more than 45 years.  Though he has performed with such artists as B.B. King, Bonnie Raitt, Ray Charles and Doc Watson, "Book" usually brings his music, his wit and talents as a raconteur onto the stage as a solo artist. He is listed in the Blues Who's Who, appeared regularly on TNN's "Nashville Now" and has received five-star ratings from Billboard. He now has more than a dozen solo CDs to his credit and is sought after as a workshop teacher as well as a performer.

Dr. John - his real name is Mac Rebennack - has been playing a heady brew of New Orleans R&B, gospel, and funk for over three decades. He has over twenty solo records to his credit, and has played side man on literally hundreds of other singles and albums. The good doctor is truly a "conjure man;" his rollicking boogie- woogie and blues, unpretentious voice, and flamboyant style are hypnotic. A prodigious songwriter, masterful piano player, two-time Grammy Award winner and celebrated ambassador of New Orleans music, Mac has secured a place for himself in rock history. The Los Angeles Times called him "a marvelous link in a chain of great New Orleans R&B piano players stylistically descended from Professor Longhair."
