PICTURE OF THE WEEK
ARTICLE OF THE WEEK
This past  Shabbat,  the 7th grade girls headed to West Hempstead, with administration and teachers, for an incredible shabbaton together. Students spent time the past two weeks making centerpieces, creating skits and writing divrei torah, in anticipation of the shabbaton. In this past week's parsha of Terumah, we learned about the building of the Aron and what it was made of. The girls learned that the Aron was covered in gold, both on the inside and outside. The concept of beauty not only needing to be on the outside but also on inside, was the theme of the shabbaton. On Friday night, we learned various mishnayot in Pirkei Avot, focused on traits that individuals should work on as they cultivate their inner beauty. After the incredible learning, we had a ruach filled tisch. On    Shabbat day we continued to share torah, songs, and so much more. We would like to thank Rabbi Kelemer, of the Young Israel of West Hempstead, and Rabbi Schwalb, of Etz Chaim of Dogwood Park, who shared words of Torah with us over the course of    Shabbat. Special thank you to Ms. Heather Rutner for helping us coordinate the many logistics of the shabbaton. We would also like to thank all the teachers and administration who came for the shabbaton or just dropped by to visit over the course of    Shabbat, Rabbi Menchel, Ms. Kletenik, Rabbi Silverman, Mrs. Lermer, Rabbi Dworetsky, and a special thank you to Mrs. Hus for coordinating the shabbaton and making sure everything ran smoothly. Thank you to Morah Goldsmith who worked so hard with the students in class and who created amazing programming and Torah opportunities, making sure this was a meaningful experience for all the students.
