Men's Basketball
The No. 3 Fullerton College men's basketball team took on No. 16 Santiago Canyon College on the road Friday night proving to be the better team over the Hawks 88-65. Heading into the game, there was a three-way tie for first place in the Orange Empire Conference that included Fullerton, Santiago Canyon, and Saddleback. The win keeps FC (6-1 OEC and 21-2 overall) in first place with No. 14 Saddleback, after they defeated Cypress 81-60. Up Next: Fullerton will come back home on Wednesday, Feb. 6 when they welcome Irvine Valley College to the Hornets Nest. Tip-off is at 5 p.m.
Women's Basketball
Fullerton tried to make it six wins in a row on Friday but did not have enough gas in the tank losing at Riverside City College 67-62. The Hornet (5-3 OEC) loss gives RCC (6-2 OEC) the season sweep. The Tigers handed the FC a 63-52 loss in the conference opener back on Jan. 9. The loss also hurts Fullerton breaking up the third-place tie and sending them to fourth place in the Orange Empire Conference. Up Next: FC (13-9 overall, 5-3 OEC) will be back home on Wednesday, Feb. 6 against first-place Irvine Valley College (ranked No. 14 in state). Game time is at 7 p.m.
Baseball
On Thursday, Fullerton took on San Bernardino Valley College and beat the Wolverines 20-2. On Friday night, FC fell in a close one to College of the Desert 4-3. Saturday's game against San Diego City was rained out. Up Next: The Hornets hope to beat out the rain and play at home this Tuesday against Southwestern College at 2 p.m.
Softball
The Hornet softball squad opened the 2019 season with a bang out-running visiting El Camino College 7-4. It was a good win for the Hornets as the 3CFCA preseason rankings have El Camino ranked No. 8 in the state and Fullerton at No. 11. Up Next: The Hornets (1-0 overall) will play another home game on Tuesday, Feb. 12 when they face off against No. 5 Palomar College. The first pitch goes out at 3 p.m.
