As many of you know, our older youth will be spending a week in mission in Costa Rica. The youth council met this week to determine a summer mission trip location for our middle school youth or anyone who can't go on the Costa Rica trip. Our youth have been invited to attend a mission week called City Camp. City Camp is a collaboration of 7 churches in the Portland area who do a week long service trip together. (3 of the churches will be attending winter camp with us next month).
The week of City Camp is August 5-9 in Portland, OR.
This will be a great opportunity for us to live out our faith by serving in a variety of ways, including serving a meal at a soup kitchen, working at the Oregon Food Bank and working in a community garden. During the week we will stay at First United Methodist Church in Portland (which has Air Conditioning!) and on Thursday we will participate in Nightstrike, a ministry to the homeless under the Burnside bridge.
