New Camera for Inspecting Large, Curved, & Continuously Moving Objects

The In-Sight 9902L 2K line scan camera is designed for inspecting large, curved, and continuously moving objects. Fast acquisition and high-resolution images allow this system to detect fine defects on parts on fast production lines. Plus, this standalone vision system only needs to view a sliver of the target part at one time, thereby making it an ideal choice for installations with restricted field of view or mounting space.
The In-Sight 9902L line scan vision system:
  • Inspects 100% of cylindrical surfaces as they rotate along the production line
  • “Unrolls” labels on curved objects into a 2D flat surface for inspection
  • Images and inspects the large objects as a whole
QC Backlight Conveyors
We're excited to announce that QC Conveyors now offers a backlight conveyor option that's perfect for providing contrast for vision systems in part inspection and robot orientation applications.
In this video, n ine of the conveyors (three per cell) have backlights installed in their frames, which provide contrast so the vision system can detect properly shaped/spaced parts and orient the robot for pickup. The conveyors stop when the vision system detects parts ready to be picked.
Smart Vision OverDrive Series Aids with
Capturing High-Speed Images
BB Penetrating a Balloon
BB Exiting the Gun
Have you ever wanted to see a BB in slow motion? In this video, Smart Vision Lights' OverDrive™ series of lights, specifically the ODS75 operating at 2000 SPS (strobes per second), captures a high-speed BB crossing a room.
The OverDrive series of lights includes an integrated strobe driver for complete LED light control- no need for an external driver to control the light. The integrated intelligent driver monitors the strobe operation, maximizing the lights output during inspections of the vision system.
OverDrive Features:
  • 2000 SPS (Strobes Per Second) - 2nd Generation Lights
  • Intensity control using analog 0-10 VDC or potentiometer- 2nd Generation Lights
  • Highest Power LED Lights in the Vision Industry
  • SafeStrobe Technology ensures protected operation of LED's
  • 5 times brighter than standard high current LED Lights
  • Precise current provides stable Light Intensity
  • High Speed >> Fast Response
  • NPN and PNP strobe control
Midopt Polarizing Filters
Before: Reflected glare from shiny, curved surfaces affect the performance of the camera's auto-gain feature and interferes with reliable pattern detection.
After: Linear Polarizing Filters on the lens and light source, carefully aligned for maximum glare extinction, eliminate specular reflections off of the offending part, narrowing the dynamic range.
MidOpt Polarizers are designed to reduce specular glare by passing only the light polarized in the direction perpendicular to the reflected light (glare). In addition, they help improve contrast, increase color saturation and detect imperfections in transparent materials. MidOpt Polarizing Filters can be easily and securely mounted to your lens and light source for maximum extinction or glare reduction.
Polarizers are commonly used to reduce glare from objects with smooth surfaces or surfaces covered with grease, oil or liquid. Polarizers can also be used to detect stress and imperfections in transparent material.
Just Released: Piab FXI Lips
With a longer, thinner and super soft lip, the new FXI lip has been developed to broaden the application area for piGRIP® suction cups. FXI lips have the capability to secure a good grip on heavy corrugated, textured, perforated, patterned and irregular surfaces for solid objects better than other suction cups available on the market that might prove challenging. Its extra sealing capability makes the cup suitable for safe handling of surface leaking materials with, for instance, wrinkled and textured surfaces, and for porous materials such as corrugated paper.
piGRIP® with FXI lips will be a great support for the increasing automation trend into new application areas, for instance with collaborative robots (cobots).
