Leadership Shakopee Registration is Now Open!

Leadership Shakopee is a six-month development program gives emerging and existing leaders a  backstage pass to our community! Its focus is to inform and inspire leaders and challenge them to make a difference through personal commitment and involvement.
 
During the seven sessions, the class  participates in a series of educational and hands-on opportunities designed  to inform and inspire leaders. Students get a  behind-the-scenes look at numerous companies in Shakopee including Imagine Print Solutions,  Dem-Con, Canterbury Park, Valleyfair and more! Students  also have the opportunity to  meet with elected officials, judges and the chief of police.

Program Objectives
  • To engage participants in an extensive discussion about critical impacts to our community
  • To provide participants with exclusive VIP access to area businesses and institutions
  • To increase the visibility of participants within both their workplaces and the community
  • To support participants in developing lasting relationships with other group members and program contributors
  • To assist participants with tangibly improving their leadership abilities

New Residential Services Director Hired at Guild Incorporated

Guild Incorporated is pleased to announce
that Beth Scheetz, LICSW, has been hired as  the organization's Residential Services Director including Intensive Residential  Treatment and Crisis Stabilization Services. Scheetz will be overseeing development of the upcoming Scott County facilities where Guild will be providing these services for the community.

Scheetz has over 17 years of experience in social service, mental health, and health care. She most recently oversaw the operations, development, and programming of three community-based teams serving over 1,200 adults living with mental illness as Director of Community Mental Health at Touchstone. During her career, Scheetz has developed and executed agency plans and provided strategic leadership for non-profit mental health organizations. Evaluating program performance, implementing program and process improvements, increasing quality and continuity of care, and achieving positive individual outcomes have benchmarked her professional performance. She has demonstrated talent in developing people, managing change, and positively impacting the delivery of quality mental health services to vulnerable populations. Beth holds a master's degree from the University of St. Thomas. Scheetz began with Guild Incorporated on February 4.
Book Talk at The Scott County Historical Society

Join the Scott County Historical Society for an exciting book talk! Author Mary Krugerud will be sharing stories from her most recent book The Girl in Building C: The True Story of a Teenage Tuberculosis Patient, and information from Interrupted Lives: The History of a Tuberculosis in Minnesota and the Glen Lakes Sanatorium 

The Girl in Building C tells the story of sixteen-year-old Marilyn Barnes. In October 1943, she was told that her recent bout of pneumonia was in fact tuberculosis. It  was recently nominated for a Minnesota Book Award. Along with the talk, books will be available for signing and purchase. The event is $5.00, and free for SCHS members.
