My Enjoyable Way of Being Healthy
This may not be for everyone, but my way of being healthy is running. I've been running since I was young. It's fun to be competitive with your friends, while racing to see who is the fastest. I've had this competitive nature since I was in Kinder and I've continued it till now. With me being an eight grader at Aragon Middle School, I really feel the competitive nature starting to increase. Although, running doesn't have to always be used for competing ways. Running can simply be healthy for the human body, physically and mentally to stay in shape.
Running is also used as a coping mechanism to help treat depression and other mental problems. A 2006 study held by scientist, say that 30 minutes of walking on a treadmill can lift a mood from someone suffering from a major depression order. With research and proof, researchers concluded that this is an effective alternative way of treating depression.
Running can also help with the physical body. Athletes such as runners, have more lung capacity from the long miles of running which helps them with stamina. Running also contributes to burning calories and muscle building on your body, preventing you from losing or maintaining your weight. This causes an effect known as "after burn"; which is the burning of calories after an exercise. This effect is responsible for giving our body less calories after a workout.
Lastly, running is healthy because it strengthens the joints and bones in your legs. You are probably thinking, " not true" but it is a fact. Running helps prevent you from having age-related bone loss. Research by Boston University has said all arthritis patients don't get the disease due to past running history. Science has actually never proven it to be true. Although, science has indeed proven running helps improve your knee health. This makes the rumor you believed to be true, false until it is proven true.
It is amazing to know how much hard work can pay off for the human body. This is something I get to live on a daily basis and see the positive effects, while participating in Cross Country and Track. This is also my way of staying healthy and in shape. My question to you is, what is your way of being mentally and physically fit?
