From chair massages and virtual experiences to vendors and educational speakers, the day is going to be packed with lots of information for all! A Guide to Approaching Stress with Greater Awareness

Stress is a growing epidemic across the country now known to affect physical, emotional, and mental health. Stress, unchecked, can lead to high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, and heart disease. Being aware of how stress affects your ability to function, allows you to address the early signs and can lead to a clear mind, healthy relationships, and greater connection with the world around you. Mathews Counseling is proud to present the personal effects of stress, how to notice it in others, as well as, how to use mindfulness and coping mechanisms to improve your quality of life. This interactive presentation will include a Q&A at the end.

The Poe Center’s #YouthCulture program is designed to empower parents and guardians by providing insight into the environment and culture around our youth. This 2-hour workshop explores how the developing adolescent brain shapes perceptions and behavior. All participants will receive a free packet of supportive materials and resources. Covered topics will include substance use, Internet safety, sexting, and healthy dating relationships. In addition, we will explore ways to enhance parent-child communication.

The Virtual Dementia Tour Experience (VTDE) is a scientifically proven method of building a greater understanding of dementia through the use of patented sensory tools and instruction based on research. During the VDTE, trained facilitators guide participants through common everyday tasks and exercises while outfitted with patented devices that alter their senses. The experience enables participants the opportunity to “experience” for themselves the physical and cognitive challenges those with dementia face.
