Advocacy Council for Abused Deaf Children (ACADC)
On Sat. April 14, 2018 from 9-1:30pm
, the ACADC will host a free training
for service providers working with Deaf children
entitled “See Something, Say Something: Recognizing Trauma in Deaf Children” at Magnolia Place located at 1910 Magnolia Ave. in Los Angeles. The guest trainer will be Sara Ranssi, MA/LCSW. CEU's available.

Asian & Pacific Islander, Children, Youth and Family Council (API CYFC)
The API Council will be hosting an educational training for the Chinese community on
May 14th from 9-11:30am
at the Live Oak Park Community Center located at
10144 Bogue St., Temple City, 91780. Parents will learn about
child safety as it relates to those families who have immigrated to the United States. For event details,

Council for Child Abuse Prevention-
Serving the San Fernando & Santa Clarita Valleys (SPA 2)
On April 21st, the Council will again partner with the SPA 2 Council for Family Well-Being to provide our 2nd community gathering entitled “Working Hand in Hand: Fostering Strong Families.”
This event will target 300 parents, youth, agency and institutional partners living and working in SPA 2.
The event will take place at The Help Group located at 13130 Burbank Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91401 on Saturday, April 21st from 8:30am to 2pm and will feature multiple workshops as well as an opening panel.

Eastside Child Abuse Prevention Council (El Monte)
The 13th Annual Heroes’ Art Contest will be held for children ages birth-18 living in the El Monte area. All entries are due by March 31st and the winners will be announced at the Annual Resource Fair held on April 18th from 10-2pm at the Grace Black Auditorium located at 3130 N. Tyler Ave., El Monte, CA 91731. The Eastside Council will co-sponsor the Resource Fair in conjunction with SPIRITT Family Services. The event will include speakers, group discussion, and resource tables and is geared towards local service providers.

End Abuse Long Beach (EALB)
On April 12, 2018 (8-9:30am),
the EALB Council will host a training by Alyce LaViolette, MS, MFT entitled "Women, Vicarious Trauma and Sexual Harassment."
In 1979, Alyce LaViolette founded Alternatives to Violence, one of the first programs in the country for spouse abusers. She also specializes in DV, anger mgmt., conflict resolution, expert witness, and gender issues. The training will be held at Alpert Jewish Community Center, 3801 E. Willow St, Long Beach, CA 90815.

Foothill Child Abuse and Family Violence Prevention Council
The Foothill Council will host their annual Spring Conference on
April 6, 2018 from 9am-4pm
at the Almansor Court in the City of Alhambra. Dr. Judy Chiasson from LAUSD will train service providers in the Pasadena and surrounding areas on the topic of “Bullying.” The cost is $35 and the training will provide a continental breakfast, lunch and CEU’s for attendees.

LAC-Family, Children, Community Advisory Council
(African American Council)
LAC-FCCAC’s annual conference will be held on
April 26, 2018 from 8:30am-3:30pm
at Calvary Chapel Church for
service providers
with the theme “Resilience of Children, Families and Communities.” The conference will address how trauma and resilience can be transmitted across generations and how people can learn not only to be resilient but to also thrive despite their traumatic histories/environments. Speakers include Ruth Beaglehole, Founder of Echo Parenting and Education and Jeanette Yoffe, MFT, Executive Director of Yoffe Therapy. Conference cost is $50 and includes breakfast, lunch, conference materials and CEUs.

LGBT Child Abuse Prevention Council
Social Marketing Campaigns – The LGBT Council will produce and distribute original social marketing materials they have designed and produced, including:
- “5 Things to Know” cards in Eng./Spanish – This card imparts 5 messages of support and affirmation to parents/caretakers who may have LGBTQ children. There is also a list of community, cultural and religious resources on the card.
- “Safe Zone” self-adhering stickers – The sticker indicates that the person displaying it is supportive and trustworthy for LGBTQ youth. These are primarily given to service providers so that LGBTQ youth see visible signs of support in social service agencies.
- “8 Laws to Know” cards in Eng./Spanish – This card highlights the 8 most relevant state laws pertaining to protecting LGBTQ youth in schools and systems of care. These are primarily given to service providers so they have a quick reference guide when working with LGBTQ youth and their families. There is also a list of community and legal resources.
San Gabriel Valley Child Abuse Prevention Council
On April 29, 2018 (12-4pm)
, the SGV Council and Parents’ Place will host a community Information/Resource Fair and Festival to support special needs children and families. 100 vendors will be present to provide information to families who have children with developmental disabilities. The Information Fair & Festival also provides a safe space where families who have children with special needs can celebrate people of all abilities. Service providers and parents are welcome. SPA 7 Child Abuse Prevention Council
On March 9, 2018 from 9-1:30pm, the SPA 7 Child Abuse Prevention Council will host their second “Youth Male CHOICES Conference” at Rio Hondo College for boys grades 8-12 to encourage personal and academic success. The youth will hear from motivational speakers, tour Rio Hondo College and have access to a variety of positive resources. Westside Anti-Violence Authority (WAVA)
On March 6, 2018 (5:30-9pm), the WAVA screened the film “Home Truth: The Legal & Emotional Impact on One DV Survivor" at the Ken Edwards Center, 1527-4th Street in Santa Monica. The event was free and was followed by a panel discussion with local providers around central themes in the film. In April, the WAVA will also provide a training to service providers around the “Assessment of Partner Abuse: Lessons from the Queer Community.”

Yes 2 Kids - Antelope Valley Child Abuse Prevention Council
For the past 15 years, Yes2Kids has conducted a Contest for students in the Antelope Valley (1st-12th grade) that encourages them to write about topics such as respect, bullying, and how to stop child abuse. Winners are chosen from various grade levels to read their essays, and receive a prize. This year’s awards ceremony will be held on April 11, 2018 from 5-8pm at the Chimbole Cultural Center (Ballroom).
