As a supporter of the US Marines' Toys for Tots campaign, we would ask you to donate just one toy (large or small, it doesn't matter) to help disadvantaged families whose children would not be receiving anything on Christmas morning. With your help, children in unfortunate circumstances may get to enjoy a normal Christmas this year.
For your convenience, donation drop boxes have been placed in our lobby. All donations must be collected by December 15th to allow sufficient time to distribute the toys to families by the Christmas holiday.
Please share your spirit and generosity with those less fortunate.

Steve and Alma Lacefield
(Three children: Jayven 9, Remmy 3, & Vida 1)
Steve is from Illinois & Alma is from Iowa. They relocated here almost 4 yrs ago when Steve was in the Air Force. He now works for Volvo, and will earn his MBA this year. Alma has a background in pharmaceuticals and in modeling. She now works from home and home schools their children.
They love SC for the beautiful weather and the friendly people, and that there is always lots to do.
Alma loves to cook and get involved in DIY projects. Steve also enjoys DIY activities, especially things involving woodworking. He is also an avid reader. They both love to work out and stay in shape. The boys like to play basketball, football, and going fishing, and being big brothers to their little sister.
The things they like best about the YMCA are:
"We love to bring the kids. Even though we have a home gym at the house, we love the flexibility that Child Watch offers us, and the hours are great. We like the different events that you host, like the rock painting party. And everyone here at the Y is so friendly."
We are grateful to the Lacefields for being a wonderful part of the Cane Bay YMCA family.
We appreciate their support and are pleased to present them with a $25 account credit which may be applied towards a monthly fee or youth sports program. Congratulations for being selected as our December 2019 Members of the Month.

November Employees of the month
are JORDAN, VICTORIA and HUNTER. These guards stood out this month because of their amazing communications skills. Once again, these three go above and beyond what they were asked and did so without any questions. They get in the water to teach lessons when unexpected, stay late to close when needed, and cover one another's shifts. We are very grateful to them!

WATER SAFETY CLASS!
We have a great team that will be teaching your children how to be safe around water. The YMCA’s Safety Around Water program can help you make sure they learn essential water safety skills, which can open up a world of possibilities for them to satisfy their curiosity safely.
What Is Safety Around Water?
Through learning how to perform a sequenced set of skills over a 1-week session of 45 minutes each, (3 different weeks) the risk of drowning is reduced, giving your child confidence in and around water.
A typical session includes:
- Exercises to help kids adjust to being in water
- Instruction in “Jump, Push, Turn, Grab” and “Swim, Float, Swim,” two skill sets kids can use if they unexpectedly find themselves in the water
- Specific safety topics, like what to do if you see someone in the water who needs help
- Fun activities that reinforce skills.

Special Guest
Joe DeLamielleure
walked through the door in November as humble and kind as they come! Cane Bay Family YMCA is excited to have a new partner to improve our Community through His involvement in the organization!
Don't know who he is, Google is your friend, but just in case, let us tell you a little bit about why we are so thrilled He is here! "Joe D" as they refer to him in the sports arena is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He played in 185 consecutive games during his 13 playing seasons with the Bills and the Cleveland Browns.
In the 1970s, Joe DeLamielleure and his Buffalo Bills offensive line mates were dubbed the “Electric Company,” because they “turned the Juice loose.” The “Juice” of course was Hall of Fame running back O.J. Simpson. An All-America and three-time All-Big Ten performer at Michigan State, “Joe D” was selected in the first round of the 1973 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills.
