WORD for the Week for February 17, 2019
Sixth Sunday After the Epiphany

COME & WORSHIP
Sabbath Beginnings - Sacred Journey - Traditional Worship
Unity Celebration and Shared Worship
We will be celebrating unity and sharing worship with Brooklyn United Methodist Church during our 10am worship service on Sunday, February 17, to prepare our hearts for the Special Session of the General Conference in St. Louis.

As we celebrate being a diverse and vital church that is ready to face the future with faith, we'll take time to bless our Minnesota delegates, pray for the Special Session, and receive a message from Rev. Rich Zeck (Pastor, BUMC): "In Between Us."

Members of the Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus and Chamber Singers will inspire us with their presence and song, and the Sanctuary Choirs of both congregations will combine to minister side by side. Invite your family and friends.

WORD for Sabbath Beginnings 8am
Scripture Text: Matthew 22:37-40 (NRSV)

Worship Leader: Rev. Dwight Haberman

Holy Communion : We live in a time when values are seen as being negotiable, my opinion, situational, but these words of Jesus have a quality of being non-negotiable. We are told that the only way for us to make life fulfilling on earth is to love...that's it. Here is a quote worth saving: "My question is, where does the heart go to school? The real question is not the millions of people who do not think very well, but the millions of people who do not love very well." Henry Sloane Coffin.

The Story: The Community

Reflection: Invite a neighbor or friend to share Sacred Journey this week as we explore what it means to make space in our lives for the journey of Lent. The entire community will shape and share The Story as we reflect on the hope and challenge of healing our systems and making space to love. There will be time to share the impact of Jim Wallis’ book in our own lives and listen for the voice of Spirit among us. Where is God calling us to make space for those whose voices are not heard? Where is the space in our hearts to open our eyes for new opportunities to help others know and love God? Can we move beyond our comfort zone? Seeds takes a hiatus this week, to allow for participation in two wonderful opportunities to live our faith: making sandwiches for the Dignity Center at 9:30 or joining 10:00am Unity Celebration with Brooklyn UMC. Come share conversation and the journey---all are welcome!

WORD for Traditional Worship 10am

Preaching: Rev. Rich Zech

Message “In Between Us”

Reflection: What is our Way Forward as United Methodists in the Metro? To love God and neighbor, reach new people and heal a broken world – with GRACE. For BUMC and HAUMC to do ministry “In Between Us.”

For the Children and the Adults in Their Lives: Do you know the word "unity"? It means being together, like the United States of America is a collection of states all in "unity" to form a nation. We can find unity in all sorts of ways: unity in friendship, in families, as a church. God wants people to unite for causes of peace and love to heal the world. Who can you unite with for this? What can you do better together?
