MHA Outreach and Education
 



 MHA had the opportunity to participate in the  
Phoenix Speak Up Stand Up Save a Life Event.  
Over 5,000 students and professionals attended!!! MHA Associate Director, Erin Callinan, facilitated breakout sessions with 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students to discuss mental health coping skills and brainstormed ways to be a supportive peer to those with mental health challenges.    
 
 
Additional outreach events
  • Attended the Estrella High School basketball game mental health awareness night
  • Presentation at Buckeye Union High School to 110 students and faculty
  • Presentation to forty Eve's Place staff on best practices for working with domestic and sexual violence survivors living with mental health issues
  •  Presentation to Oregon School of Nursing students about mental health screenings, early intervention, stigma, and resources.

NOAH (Neighborhood Outreach Access to Health) offers enrollment assistance to individuals and families in need of health and community resources.   
 
Community resource specialists will be available to assist with enrollment of:
  • AHCCCS Medical Assistance (Medicaid)
  •  Temporary Cash Assistance for Needy Families(TANF) 
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Health Insurance Marketplace
  • Medicare Savings Program
  • KidsCare

It's your feedback that will help to improve the benefits and services members get through MCC of AZ. The MAC is looking to our MCC of AZ members, community partners, family members and Magellan Health staff for membership. A diverse group of people will be selected to help address these important issues.   
 
New applications will be accepted a few times throughout the year. Below is a schedule of future application due dates:

VITA, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program from the IRS, offers free tax help to people who generally make $55,000 or less, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
