GO Graduate Receives Outstanding OJT Award!
Congratulations to GO Ready-to-Work graduate Dominique Scales, who was recognized this month as the
Mountain Area Workforce Development Board 2018 Outstanding On-the-Job-Training (OJT) Participant! Dominique has been employed full-time at
PECO Lawn Vac since March 2018. According to his employer, "he has become a true asset to the PECO team!"
Thanks to everyone in our community who supported Dominique on his training and employment pathway, including Barbara Darby from
Land of Sky Regional Council and his GO case managers, Michael Hayes and Jeremy Lett.

The Homework Diner Program Returned to Local Middle Schools this Week
The United Way Homework Diner program resumed this week at local middle schools. At weekly Homework Diner events, Asheville & Buncombe County students and families receive tutoring and homework help, build parent-teacher relationships, access community resources,
and
receive a free nutritious meal prepared by
Green Opportunities' culinary social enterprise.

Do you want to be GO's next Chef Instructor?
Do you love to cook AND to teach?
We're hiring a full-time Chef Instructor for our culinary job training program. Join our dedicated team to help job seekers from marginalized communities start their careers in the culinary industry.
This position requires a special skill set, combining a love of people and the desire to build a more inclusive, just community with a knack for cooking. Applicants should have a desire to share their culinary knowledge and passion with aspiring job seekers facing a range of employment barriers.

Kenya enrolled in GO's Kitchen Ready program in 2016. After completing the training program, she worked as a cook at Tupelo Honey Cafe in Atlanta before moving back to Asheville. She now works on GO's case management team, where she's able to help new students enroll in training programs and access the support services they need to be successful. She encourages others to take advantage of the career-building services that Green Opportunities offers the Asheville community.

Green Opportunities holds a
Training Program Information Session on the third Wednesday of each month from 3:30-4:30 in the Edington Center Training Room, 133 Livingston St.
Job seekers who are interested in learning more about GO's training and employment pathways are encouraged to attend.
