Green News

GREEN TIP OF THE WEEK
Spring is just around the corner, and it's a good time to start thinking about the usual spring rains. This year, consider hooking up a rain barrel or two to your gutters, and using that rain water for your landscaping instead of tap water.

Did you know about all the TREX "Bags to Benches" campaigns in Summit?
Here are 4 of the places around town to drop off your clean and dry stretched plastics:
(1) Transfer Station (next to the commingled recycling for residents)
(2) Congregation Beth Hatikvah (36 Chatham Road) is hosting the public GreenFaith collection (the blue collection bin is in the back of the parking lot next to the basketball net)
(3) Washington School (507 Morris Ave) (collection bins are located outside the main entrance of the school)
(4) Franklin School (136 Blackburn Rd) (collection bins are located outside the Library entrance (glass doors to the right of the main entrance) and the Warwick entrance (on the left side of the building near Warwick Rd).

Trex accepts these types of clean and dry stretched plastics: grocery bags, bread bags, case overwrap, dry cleaning bags, newspaper sleeves, ice bags, Ziploc baggies, produce bags, bubble wrap, salt and cereal bags. Let's recycle what we can and continue to reduce our plastic waste!

Library Volunteer Sign Ups

If you are interested in helping out during the school year, please consider serving as a Library Volunteer. This is a great chance to see your child's class in action while they visit the library. Volunteers will help to shelve books, with book selection and check out.

(Please note, no siblings are allowed in the library while volunteering. Thank you!)

Please check out the sign up genius: CLICK HERE.
Scroll through until you find your child's class and then select dates. Please only select one date per month so others have a chance to help out too.

Thank you!
