Baruch Dayan Emet (Praised be the Judge of Truth)

I would like to share with the congregation news of the death of Claire Greenwald on Monday, November 19, 2018.

Claire was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bernard H. Greenwald. Her children and their spouses are Art and Sue Greenwald, Bonnie and Joel Pasternack of Clifton, New Jersey, and Joyce Greenwald and Michael Lichtman of Sharon, Massachusetts. Her grandchildren are Seth and Jackie Greenwald, Alison and David Ash, Amy and Ben Fairclough, Eric Lichtman and Ben Lichtman. Claire was Bubbe to great-grandchildren Grace, Wes and Quinn Greenwald and Elli and Carli Fairclough.

Born as Klara Salpeter in Dusseldorf, Germany on May 30, 1923, Claire came to the United States in 1938. She came with the expectation that her parents and three sisters would follow but, ultimately, they were murdered in the Holocaust. Claire's life and legacy are a testament to the ability of one person to overcome adversity, create a life of love and inspire others with her courage.
