Where do I place my refuse and recycling cart in the snow?
- Please utilize your driveway apron or clear a portion of the parkway for cart placement. Please do not place your refuse and recycling carts in the street.

Important Information from the Police Department: Parents, please talk with your children about the dangers of playing on the ice by Lake Michigan.
The ice shelves are tantalizing and beautiful but potentially very dangerous. A person can fall into holes between the ice shelves and it can be impossible to climb out. Please just observe from distance!

Klode Park Ice Rink Update:
|
|
The Village currently does not have immediate plans to begin forming an ice rink at Klode Park this year. The current 10 day forecast is not favorable for making ice as rain is projected this weekend into Monday.
Historically, January has been the best month to form an ice rink. However, so far this year, it has not been possible due to above average temperatures in early and mid-January and then the extremely cold temperatures last week.
Village priorities, as winter progresses, will be to focus manpower on snow plowing, deicing streets, and hauling snow from the business district area on Silver Spring.
What conditions are needed to make ice at Klode Park?
- It typically takes 5 consecutive nights (without snow) to build up minimum base of 4 to 5 inches of ice. In order to be successful during those 5 consecutive nights, temperatures should be 15 degrees or below with day or night high temperatures not exceeding the lower 20’s.

Cheryl will talk about the history of the Riverkeepers organization and current water issues facing the Milwaukee River and other water sources. Please join us to learn more about how we can make our rivers cleaner and safeguard our drinking water.

Did you know?
Winter weather creates dangerous conditions including icy, snow and sleet covered roads. In Wisconsin, these conditions are responsible for an average of 50,000 vehicle crashes and 45 deaths each winter.
Although winter is familiar to Wisconsinites, extreme cold, snow, ice, rain, and sleet place all of us at risk. Winter can be especially difficult for older adults, young children, people who are socially isolated, and those with low economic status.

Monday, February 4: David Bartlet's technology series is back! 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. Topic: Protecting your computer, emails and phone from pop-ups, scams and unwanted calls! This is a free class but you MUST be registered.
Tuesday, February 12: Luncheon with a special musical performance by Julie Anne Lovely Thompson. An extraordinarily delightful afternoon to share with friends! Menu will be chicken parmesan, marinara with penne pasta, strawberry spinach salad, cheesy bread, red velvet cake, milk, and Starbucks coffee. Registration is required. Last day to register is Friday, February 8.
