My Personal Skin Care Journey
Now that you have heard about my Fractora journey, I wanted to share some of my favorite skin care secrets that have helped me vastly improve my skin over the past several years.
I truly believe that my skin is better today that it was even back in my late 20's!
With that said I must admit I have been lucky to have access to so many great products and tools,
so I am going to highlight the procedures and products that actually made a difference for me vs. the many attempts that resulted in little or no change at all.

The first procedure that made a large impact on the color and texture of my skin was the
VIpeel. Like many of you I had years of sunbathing with little or no sunscreen and even some days of baby oil tanning (Yikes!) Then after hormonal changes with pregnancy, the brown spots/freckles on my face worsened to larger brown patches. I did a
VIpeel after each pregnancy and both helped tremendously to reduce my dark lower face mask that had developed.
IPLs
IPL was the second game changer for me. The VIpeels had improved the larger patches of brown color on my face but I still had many sun spots and freckles, as well as little red blood vessels that skewed the color of my face. IPL was the procedure that resolved the rest of these issues for me. This is a procedure that I have done on at least a yearly (if not more) basis to keep the color of my skin even and the little red vessels away.
Fractora
By far the biggest improvement in the texture, fine lines, wrinkles, and overall health of my skin was having a
Fractora done. This is an ablative procedure that forces the skin to grow newer and healthier tissue in the treated areas. It also uses heat to help tighten and contract the tissue back to it's normal younger state. The results of
Fractora were slower to see but continued to improve over the course of about a year. This is the procedure that resolved a lot of my lines that were in my forehead, around my mouth, and even lifted my eyebrows back up and opened my eyes up.
Fractora also helped get a lot of the bumps in my skin out (milia). I felt so strongly about this procedure that I became a trainer and have traveled the country teaching other practices not only how to perform the
Fractora procedure, but also how to get the best results. I have watched first hand how trans-formative it can be. I hope you were able to read last month account of my

Alastin HydraTint
Finding a sunscreen that I actually like to wear every single day was a personal victory for me. My skin is very sensitive and even many high end, good quality sunscreens I was unable to tolerate (believe me, I tried many over the years!) My daily sunscreen is the
Alastin HydraTint Pro Mineral Sunscreen. Not only does my skin tolerate this sunscreen, it also has replaced my moisturizer and foundation on most days. The
HydraTint Sunscreen protects against UVA, UVB, as well as infrared and blue light. Due to these protections, I put on my sunscreen before even blow drying my hair since, yep, you guessed it, the heat from a blow dryer can age your skin over time (not to mention what the blue light from our computers and cell phones are doing to us!)
Alastin Nectar & Complex
I started using
Alastin Nectar about 2 weeks after my first
Fractora and am not willing to ever stop this product! It is the only skin care product that I would stand behind 100% with patients, friends, and family! Over time I have transitioned to
Alastin Complex and will write a bit more about these products in another post. The concept behind Alastin is what sold me as well as the fact that the company proves their product works by doing skin punch biopsies and tissue staining. This is the same method used by pharmaceuticals to prove their efficacy. (All of us know that a before and after picture can be manipulated, but a biopsy and tissue staining is incredibly accurate.) Alastin helps clear out old cellular debri (damage) and sends in peptide signals to tell your skin to grow new collagen and elastin. It essentially allows your body to heal itself in the most effective way possible! The other part that I personally love is that when you own body grows new collagen or elastin, it is yours to keep even after the product is stopped. Many products can make your skin look better but what was put in your skin to plump it up is not there to stay and will fade after the product is stopped.
So you can see why I am so passionate about the products and services we provide because I use them and have personally experienced the results. All of my fancy skin care regimens have been replaced with Alastin sunscreen and Complex and I couldn't be happier with the result. I really believe in my laser offerings and have spent countless hours trying to perfect my technique because I believe in treating your skin as I would treat my own.
