Clay County Master Gardener Program
The Extension Master Gardener Volunteer program of Clay County is an educational program designed to enhance public education in the horticulture field. It provides educational programs to the citizens of Clay county concerning lawns, fruits, vegetables, trees, and ornamentals through the utilization of a trained and supervised volunteer staff. The Extension Master Gardener Volunteer course starts February 15, 2019. The fee for the program is $100 which includes the North Carolina Extension Gardener Handbook.  Learn more




Carbon Monoxide Program
Brrrr! It's so cold outside! As you keep your homes warm, do you think about carbon monoxide? Most people don't, but you should. Join us for an hour of information on carbon monoxide and how you can protect yourself and your family for a Safe Home, Healthy Home.  Register  in advance to receive your carbon monoxide detector at the end of the program. Registration Fee is $10 for class: February 4, 2019, N.C. Cooperative Extension, Clay County Center. Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in and pay. Class will start promptly.

Clay County Extension Fruit Plant Sale
Clay County Extension will be offering fruit plants for sale for the 2019 Spring planting season. The funds from the plant sale will support the 4-H Youth Program. Plant orders will be taken beginning Friday, February 1st until March 8th. In order to keep the prices low, a prepayment of all orders is required. Plants will arrive for pick up on Wednesday, April 3rd. 
Plants for sale include varieties of apples, peaches, pears, cherries, plums, blackberry, raspberry, blueberries, strawberries and grapes. More information and order forms please   Click Here. If you have questions please call our office at 828-389-6305.

Be sure to put these on your calendar!
March 4th -Fire Safety - Common dangers associated with using common household items; fireplaces, grills, etc...              
April 8th- Natural Spring Clean - Cleaning your home without harsh chemicals and costing you less.
        
May 6th- Simple Makeovers, Savvy Shopping - Reusing and recycling items in your home. Give tired furnishings new purpose and making a thrift store bargain a thrift store treasure.
                                                           
June 3rd - Well Water Safety - Common Well Water worries. Does your water need testing, how is that done?

July 8th - Chow Chows, Relishes and Salsas- Now that your summer garden has been harvested, how to use all those tomatoes, cucumbers and other scrumptious veggies.
All classes will be held at the Clay County Center starting at 10:00am. Additional programs may be added. Dates subject to change based on client response. 4-H Fly Fishing Club
Do you know of someone in middle school who enjoys to fly fish or who would like to learn?
