CREP mini-grants open, All Bay Meeting registration reminder, staff conference registration reminder, planter and drill workshop, urban and community webinar, and grazing conference. 
New Round of CREP Mini-grants Now Accepting Applications

PACD is now accepting mini-grant applications for up to $2,500 to implement educational and outreach activities that support and extend the work of the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP). Projects should focus on CREP enrollment, re-enrollment, and/or CREP maintenance.
 
The guidelines and application for the new CREP mini-grant program for conservation districts are posted here. Questions should be directed to Amy Brown at [email protected].
 
Financial and other support for the CREP Outreach Program Office Mini-grant Program is provided by the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts, Inc. through a Growing Greener Watershed Protection grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and with additional support from USDA-NRCS.
All Bay Meeting: Deadline to Register is February 25

Just a reminder, registration for the 2019 Chesapeake Bay Program Conservation District and PA Agency Staff Meeting closes February 25, 2019.

The meeting will take place at the Degenstein Theater, Susquehanna University, 515 University Ave, Selinsgrove, PA, on March 11, 2019. (The snow date is March 13.) Final Reminder to Register for the Staff Conference 

Reminder to all Conservation District Staff - you still have time to register for the 2019 Building for Tomorrow Staff Conference on February 27 & 28 at the Genetti Hotel in Williamsport.
 
Our theme for this year's conference is Culture & Communication, and the event program will provide you with personal inspiration as well as valuable information that you can take back to your districts.
 
Our Day 1 Keynote Session will explore the connection between values, mission, and culture and give you tips to bolster your focus and effectiveness and super-charge your performance and potential. Day 2 begins with an interactive workshop focusing on cultivating a culture of respect in the workplace and beyond. Breakout sessions for both days include timely and important information on a range of public-facing and internal communications topics for all staff positions.

You're Invited To Attend: Agency Planter and Drill Workshop

Penn State Extension's Agency Planter and Drill Workshop is geared towards conservation planners with little to no experience in setting up a planter. The goal is to help participants better understand the problems that farmers face in transitioning their equipment to no-till and assist farmers in finding solutions to guarantee success in setting up their equipment. We hope you can join us!

February 2019 Urban & Community Webinar

The next NACD Urban and Community Conservation webinar, scheduled for 12:00-1:00 p.m. on February 21, 2019, will feature the National Brownfields Program.
 
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency representatives will give an overview of the Brownfields Utilization, Investment, and Local Development (BUILD) Act that was enacted in March 2018 and how it can be useful to local entities like conservation districts.
 
There is no cost to participate, but space is limited. Registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. To register, email Debra Bogar at [email protected] .
2019 Western PA Annual Spring Grazing Conference

The 22nd Annual Spring Grazing Conference is being held on Wednesday and Thursday, March 13 and 14, 2019, at the Trinity Point Church of God in Clarion, PA.
 
The keynote speaker is Fred Provenza, professor emeritus of Behavioral Ecology in the Department of Wildland Resources at Utah State University. He is a pioneer in understanding foraging behavior and how behavior links soils and plants with herbivores and humans.
 
Registration is $85 for two days or $45 for one day only. The registration deadline is March 6, 2019.
 
Nutrient management continuing education credits are available.
