LoveServes International coaches pastors to develop healthy churches that equip the Church members to meet their communities’ greatest needs through the love of Christ.
The Genesis of LoveServes International (Previously AAVI – Asociación Aguas Vivientes, Inc. or Living Waters Association, Inc.) was the personal ministry work originally done by founders Martin Newby and Brent Whitehead. They came to the Dominican Republic in 1982 and became involved with the country and with this new ministry that God birthed by providing pure water. They believed that clean water and health education would help the overall health and wellness of the people. As believers in Christ they connected with the local church because of their desire to not only provide drinking water but also to provide the “living water” (John 4:10) that only Jesus Christ can provide so the Dominicans may “never need to drink again”.
After many years and many water projects, Abel Ramirez (former Executive Director) along with the Board of directors agreed that although the Dominican people were receiving clean water, there was NOT the spiritual fruit that they had been striving for.
LoveServes utilizes 8 programs that transform the vision of the church to an outward focus to meet the needs of the community:
  • Pastoral Training and Coaching
  • Church Growth and Development
  • Church Ministries
  • Family Counseling/Aid
  • Health and Education for Children
  • Youth Health and Development
  • Care for Elderly and Handicapped
  • Community Development – Recognizing Individual and Community Needs

Honeymoon island is known for miles of sandy beaches, nature trails which host almost 200 years old trees and abundant wildlife, but why is it called that?
Honeymoon Island and Caladesi Island were one large island known as Hog Island. The Hurricane of 1921 split the island in half and created the Hurricane Pass. In the late 1930s, a business man purchased the island and while he was lunching with his friend, a Life Magazine editor he commented that the island would be great for honeymoons. After the Life Magazine story ran Honeymoon Island was created. Fifty honeymoon cottages were built on May 8, 1940. When WW2 started the island was leased to a defense contractor and the cottages were damaged. In the 1960s a developer purchased the island and planned to build residential units along waterfront canals however the project was not completed due to environmental concerns. In 1974, the State of Florida started purchasing the island and on December 7, 1981 the Honeymoon Island State Recreation Area was created. This is the history behind Honeymoon island which is a great place to visit for locals and tourists.
