If you’ve been waiting to hear from the Kirwan Commission… your wait is over. Partially.
The Commission’s interim report was released this week, with its far-reaching recommendations for transforming Maryland’s approach to education. What remains unclear is the path to get there, both this year and beyond. Legislation to implement at least the Commission’s framework and expectations is expected this session… but not yet introduced. What is being asked of counties for FY 2020? Is there broad legislative support for the sweeping changes being envisioned? Mysteries abound.
