US Department of State Teacher Institute
Program Dates: July 15-19, 2019
Application Deadline: March 1, 2019
The week-long US Department of State Teacher Institute will provide middle and high school educators with training in the history and practice of diplomacy, in-person meetings with US diplomats and statesmen, diplomatic simulations, and other helpful tools for incorporating diplomacy in the classroom. The program will take place at the US State Department, with access to its unique collections and the US Diplomacy Center. This is a funded professional learning opportunity, with a stipend and PD credit available. Secondary teachers of social studies, art, English language arts, and others are invited to apply.
Teaching the European Union
Program Dates: June 23-29, 2019
Application Deadline: March 8, 2019
The deep transatlantic ties - economic, cultural, social, and political - that connect the United States and the European Union (EU) have flourished in the decades since World War II. Join the Global Ties Foundation for a week-long study tour for educators in Brussels, the seat of the EU, designed to provide a deeper understanding of the EU. The fully funded program includes site visits, meetings with EU colleagues and curriculum workshops. High school social studies teachers with at least 5 years' experience, and curriculum specialists from state and local education agencies are eligible to apply. Participants are required to develop an action plan for integrating EU-related content into their work.

Fulbright Teachers For Global Classrooms Program (Fulbright TGC)
Program Dates: 2019-2020
Application Deadline: March 7, 2019
The Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program, funded by the US Department of State and administered by IREX, is a year-long professional development fellowship for K-12 teachers to develop skills for preparing students for a competitive global economy. Fulbright TGC equips teachers to bring an international perspective to their schools through targeted training, experience abroad, and global collaboration. The program includes an online professional development course, a Washington, DC global education symposium, and a two to three week international field experience. Participants must develop a capstone project and are eligible for alumni grant opportunities. Applicants must be US citizens who are full time K-12 teaching professionals (teachers, library/media specialists, counselors, curriculum coordinators, and others) with 5 or more years of classroom experience.

Elgin Heinz Outstanding Teacher Award 2019
Application Deadline: May 15, 2019
The Elgin Heinz Outstanding Teacher Award, funded by the US-Japan Foundation and administered by EngageAsia, recognizes exceptional teachers who further mutual understanding between Americans and Japanese. The 2019 award will be awarded to one teacher in the humanities category. The award consists of a $2,500 monetary award and a $5,000 grant. The award is open to current full-time K-12 classroom teachers of any relevant subject in the US. EngageAsia accepts nominations, or interested teachers can apply directly.
