A LETTER FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL
Dear Families,

I hope that you will share this letter with your entire family – including Grandparents. We are so thankful for this day. We enjoyed Mass with our Grandparents this morning, and loved when they joined us in the classrooms. I can only imagine that our classrooms look a little different than when they were in school. However, we hope they enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, writing poems, being interviewed, learning about native Indian tribes and watching the living museums.

If today is any indication about what to expect for tomorrow – please know you are in for a grand time!

Be sure to join your PK, Kinder, or 1st Grade Students tomorrow for dancing turkeys and songs that will melt your heart! Beginning at 9:00 am Grandparents may take students to Book Fair and enjoy refreshments.Afterward, you do not want to miss their special presentation that starts at 10:00 a.m. in the West Hall.

Thanks for joining us today and we look very forward to tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving,

Mrs. Drabek
ST. ROSE OF LIMA ANNUAL FUND CAMPAIGN

NOVEMBER 15 - 16, 2018

Thank you to our generous donors thus far to our Annual Fund for our Day of Giving! Your amazing support preserves your legacy and protects our students.

The St. Rose of Lima Annual Fund Campaign provides immediate-use funding that goes straight to work for students and the school. This funding will be utilized to "raise the roof", and finalize some roofing repairs - an immediate need for our school!

Can't wait for tomorrow, eithier?

Make your difference today!
Middle School Students are wrapping up the annual food drive this week, and have finished packing up over 60 bags of Thanksgiving meals to go to families in need!

In the spirit of the season, we asked the middle school students "What inspires you to do good in the world this season?" Here are some of their answers:

" Something that inspires me is how fortunate I am...I want to give that opportunity (to someone). Both of us get the enjoyment of happiness. I change their life, they change mine." - Nico J.A.

"I am inspired by my teacher, Mrs. Lynch. It’s hard to pick just one thing about Mrs. Lynch that I find inspiring. She starts and finishes every day in a positive way always encouraging her students not just to learn the subjects, but to be good people. Mrs. Lynch wants to help us grow in our faith and to be the best individuals we can be.... Mrs. Lynch inspires me to give back and to be a better person. Its teachers like Mrs. Lynch that encourage me to do my best now and in the future so that I can be a good example for those younger than me like my brother." - Sam B.

" God gave us gifts and we should use them the help others."- Brooke B.

" I feel like the people at school and in my community inspires me to do good. Ever since I was little I used to see people, like Mrs. Ward, serve the community in various ways." - Olivia M.

" Something that inspires me to do good is my family. They always encourage me to do good. I always take their advice, because it works." - Madison L.

" Something that inspires me to do goo this season is Christmas. It's a time of year when people should be with their loved ones to enjoy the beautiful time. It inspires me to be thoughtful of others even if I don't get along with them." - Gabby D.

" People doing good things inspires me." - Julianne T.

" What inspires me to do good this season? I just like to see people happy." - Nicolas C.
MEET MS. ASHLEY T. - OUR NEW COUNSELOR

A few Words from Ms. Ashley:

"I always knew that my love of helping others would manifest itself in the greatest aspects of my life but I didn’t know in what capacity. I went to undergraduate school at New York University (NYU) and majored in Urban Design and Architecture. After working at an architecture firm for a year I knew that I was called to do more. I moved to Boston and began my teaching career.

Escaping the cold, I moved to Houston where I have taught art, technology, government, economics, and algebra I for the past 8 years. While teaching I realized that students experienced things that were affecting their educational growth, that is when I decided to go back to school to become a school counselor. While teaching I went to Lamar University and graduated with my Masters in school counseling. I completed my internship and practicum at Key Middle School with HISD and am enthralled to work at St. Rose of Lima as the school counselor where I can help others help themselves."
