UF Ranked #8 Among Public Universities
The University of Florida has strengthened its ranking among the nation’s top-10 public universities, rising to the No. 8 spot in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges list. UF remains the most highly ranked school in Florida and the only university in the state in the top 10. UF was tied for the No. 9 spot last year with the University of California, Irvine, and the University of California, San Diego. This year, it rises in rank, tied with Georgia Institute of Technology.

$1 Million Awarded for Gainesville Bicycle-Pedestrian Safety Project
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has been awarded a $1 million grant from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to test pedestrian and bicyclist safety applications at signalized intersections and mid-block crosswalks using connected vehicle and connected infrastructure technology. The University of Florida, The City of Gainesville, and FDOT will be collaborating on the Bicycle-Pedestrian Safety Project, AID, as part of I-STREET. Officials say the project will test pedestrian and bicyclist traffic to give them estimated times of arrival to their destinations based on foot traffic patterns.
Dr. Pruthvi Manjunatha Discusses Transportation Engineering on ASCE Podcast
The UF Chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) inaugurated their first pod cast with a conversation with Dr. Pruthvi Manjunatha, a former student at the UFTI. Dr. Manjunatha spoke about the transportation engineering field, self-driving vehicles, the Gainesville Autobus, and misconceptions about what transportation professionals actually do. Dr. Manjunatha also described the difference between academia and consulting.

UTC Conference for the Southeastern Region on October 24-25, 2018
The 6 th  Annual University Transportation Centers Conference for the Southeastern Region will be hosted this year by the Center for Connected Multimodal Mobility (C2M2) at Clemson University. The conference is co-sponsored by the UFTI and will be taking place on October 24-25, 2018. Registration is open!

Transportation Faculty Position in UF Civil Engineering
The Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure and Environment (ESSIE) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida is currently accepting applications for a tenure-track faculty position that may be at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in its Transportation Program. The faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses as part of the Civil and Coastal Engineering curricula; initiate sponsored research programs, recruit and supervise graduate students, and engage in service activities for the university and the profession. 

UF ISE Invites Applications for Human-Systems Engineering Faculty
The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering (HWCOE) at the University of Florida (UF) is looking to expand its new Human-Systems Engineering (HSE) specialization and is actively seeking applicants for multiple tenure-track faculty positions within this area. Potential candidates with expertise in transportation human factors and human robot interaction among other topics are encouraged to apply.
