A Message from the Principal

Lovejoy HS News 10 01 18

P arents and Guardians,

Thanks to everyone who organized and participated in Leopard Friday this past week.  As far back as I can remember, it was the largest turnout of kids and adults we have had. It was a great afternoon of face painting, games, candy, and lots of other activities.  Leopard Friday is one of our unique Lovejoy traditions, and I hope you were able to attend.

Don't forget that this upcoming weekend is a four-day weekend for students and teachers. Friday, October 5th and Monday, October 8th are holidays, and LHS will not have school on those days. Dual Credit students may have class and will need to communicate with their professors to find out specific scheduling information for those days.

Please take a few minutes to review the information and recognitions below.

Have a great week!

Sincerely,

Chris Mayfield
Principal
Lovejoy High School

"Hello! I would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who bought a ribbon or two at Leopard Friday and to those who donated online for the Autism Walk this past weekend.  We had a great turnout and the weather was perfect during the walk.  We finished just in time before the rain started to come down on us.  Not only did I meet my goal of raising $500 toward the walk, the donation total was over $700. If you would still like to donate, the deadline is 10/29/2018. The combined donations from the ribbons sale and the walk was over $850.  We had a fun time walking for such a great cause. Thank you everyone for your love and support of Autism Awareness!

Tutoring 101
We are pleased to share that Lovejoy ISD and Tutoring 101 have formed a partnership to bring Tutoring 101 services to Lovejoy ISD. This partnership is a revenue generating relationship for Lovejoy as we have signed a revenue sharing model.

Tutoring and Test Prep Now Enrolling
ACT and PSAT/SAT classes will be starting soon. Private tutoring is available for students in grades K-12 in all subjects. Tutoring 101 recommends once a week tutoring for an hour to increase grades and learn subject matter more deeply. A once a week appointment usually results in an increase of 1 letter grade or more. Turn those C's into B's.

What's your SAT/ACT score? Want a better one? What do you need it to be?

Invest in a PSAT/SAT/ACT Prep program not just a class. We've helped high scorers get TOP scores, average students raise their scores, and poor test takers achieve the scores that colleges want.  Our students have earned admissions and scholarships, and have saved thousands of tuition dollars every year.
  • Specialize in working with individual students and their specific needs
  • Day-of-test strategies
  • One-on-one/small groups
  • PSAT/SAT Classes: Tues or Thurs or Saturdays
  • ACT Prep Classes: Mon/Wed or Sat

PTA Announces Reflections Contest - Heroes Around Me
Heroes don't always wear capes! The National PTA Reflections program encourages students of all ages and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. Through the program, National PTA, Lovejoy Local and Council PTAs, and PTAs across the country urge students in preschool through grade 12 to create and submit original works. This year's contest theme is "Heroes Around Me".  We hope all Leopards will submit an entry in one or more of the following categories: Dance Choreography, Literature, Film Production, Photography, Visual Arts, and Music Composition - reflecting on the specific theme. There is a special artist division option for students with disabilities to ensure all students have the opportunity to participate in the program. Students are recognized each year for their artistic ingenuity to bring the theme to life in a way that is personal and meaningful . For rules and entry forms,  click here  .  The deadline is Friday, November 2nd.
