e-Pistle for February 17, 2019
Dear ,

It has been sad for St. Andrew's to say goodbye to Cat Healy and her family, but also exciting as she heads off to be the rector of her own parish in Chicago.

I want to let you know about the process for finding a replacement for Cat as the Assistant Rector for Youth and family.

We have set up a search committee which includes parishioners involved in our youth and children's programs, as well as parishioners reflecting a cross section of the congregation.

The members of the committee are: Adrian Robbins-Cole (rector), Frank Hunnewell (vestry person for human resources and lay head of the search committee), Jen Martin (vestry person for church school),  Sarah Harris (clerk to the vestry and mother of children in church school programs), Nancy Kohl (member of human resources committee and Sunday 8am parishioner), Peter Lull (longtime parishioner) Tim Raeke (church school teacher), and  Elizabeth Svedlund (church school committee member).

St. Andrew's has long been a training parish for newly ordained clergy and it is our intention to follow this tradition by hiring a newly ordained clergy person.

We are advertising the position at seminaries and through the diocese to the national church.

We have already received a number of applications.  To date we have so far arranged to interview four candidates in March who seem well suited to our position based on their resumes and initial telephone conversations.  We expect to receive further applications.

Our hope is that we will be able to make an offer at around the end of April. We would like our new associate rector in place in June or July so that they have time to be ready for the start of the church school year in September.

If you have any questions about the search process, please do not hesitate to contact me or the wardens.

Please keep Cat in your prayers as she moves to her new parish and also our Search Committee as they start the important work of finding her replacement.

Yours in Christ, Adrian

P.S. There is no 5pm service this Sunday, February 17.

Parish Prayer List
"Refreshing" the Parish Prayer List
Praying for our loved ones at times of need is a central part of our worship and church life. We would like to remind you that at the beginning of every season, we "refresh" the prayer list. We remove the names of people we have not heard about keeping on the list. We are happy to keep people on the list for as long as they are in need of our prayers but, our proactive approach helps prevent a buildup of people on the list after the need for our prayers has passed. Thanks for your help with this.

We also pray for
Bertha Orberg Danielson and Shirley A. Johnston in whose names the flowers have been given.

Prayers for Outreach Partners
We have started a practice of praying each week for one of the St. Andrew's outreach partners in the Prayers of the People. The outreach partners are charities that the parish supports with our time and donations from our parish budget. The aim of this new practice is both to hold the work of these charities in our prayers, and to familiarize the congregation with the different charities we support as we put our faith into action as a parish.
