Letter from the President

I hope your New Year is off to a good start and you are laying the foundation for many successes in 2019.  For some of us that entails making resolutions and setting goals.  What have you resolved to accomplish or improve upon in the coming year?  I hope one of your resolutions is to get the most out of your CFMA membership in 2019.
To help you with that resolution, the chapter's Program Team met to plan out the entire year's program, education and event calendar.  The result is a dynamic array of topics and social events.  I encourage you to add the dates listed below into your calendars to avoid conflicts in your schedule.

Furthermore, to keep CFMA top of mind, members will soon receive in the mail a calendar with these dates included incorporated into each month.  We sincerely hope these calendars help our members to be engaged and involved; ultimately getting the most out of your membership.

Another CFMA resolution to consider: visit the national website to access the Online Education Courses and Webinars, or join one of the many conversations on Connection CafĂ©. Perhaps this is the year you become a CCIFP or join a committee.

I am excited for the year ahead and the outstanding programming planned for our members, There is a lot going on within CFMA and specifically here in our local chapter.  Please take time to read about the upcoming February and March programs, volunteer opportunities and "Build Chicago" call for nominations.  I look forward to working together to make the most of CFMA and 2019!

Hacking a Construction Company - March 19, 2019
Annual Meeting, Program & Networking Cocktail Reception

Many people are still under the assumption that the construction industry is not at risk for a cyber-attack because cyber criminals are only looking for personal information, such as credit card data, that construction companies do not usually keep on record.  But it doesn't matter how valuable their information is for cyber criminals selling on the black market. It only matters how valuable that information is to the company itself.

This program discussion will cover cyber fraud - how it is done, why it is done and what preventative steps can be taken; with a specific focus on construction companies.
