Salute to Veterans Luncheon Recap

Before getting into the meat of today's presentation from Lt. Col. Allan Floyd, we want to sincerely thank everyone who braved the elements today to help us salute our veterans.

After a brief welcome from Chamber President Leonardo McClarty, Lisa Terry, from the  Howard County Office of Veterans and Military Families, spoke about the work their office does on behalf of veterans and military families and the ways people looking to help, can offer assistance.
Then LaTara Harris, Regional Director from Premier Sponsor, AT&T, spoke about her early life as a military child, and how thankful she is for those experiences. She also talked about AT&T's commitment to hiring veterans before introducing Lt. Col. Allan Floyd, Deputy Garrison Commander for Transformation at Ft. Meade.

Lt. Col. Floyd gave attendees a summary of the projects currently underway at the installation including large infrastructure plans. Lt. Col. Floyd also talked in depth about the priorities for the installation over the next few years. The highest priorities include further securing the installation, and providing for and attracting the best talent.
When asked what support the business community could offer to Ft. Meade, Lt. Col. Floyd said that they would always like to be able to offer more family services and support and could see partnerships to provide more childcare and other assistance for families of service members.

As has become our tradition, all veterans in attendance gathered to take a photo together at the end of the luncheon. We thank them all for their service.

The gallery was hit in both of the devastating floods in Old Ellicott City over the past few years and decided not to return to Main Street. They wanted to stay in the Howard County community, so they were excited to find the new space. We are so happy to see them settled in their new home!
