Megan Rothwell Saia '97 Brings New Programming to Extended Day at DCD
Interview by Leslie Bowen

You've had so many different kinds of work experiences at DCD, starting as a counselor at the camp in 1997, then managing the summer camp, teaching in Pre-K and as a substitute, coaching, etc.  How do you feel now in your new position?

I love the new position! With my previous experience, I was able to work with a variety of age groups. This year, I still have the pleasure of working with students across many grades! All of my previous experiences have helped me build a strong foundation to be in the position I am today.

The latest issue of the DCD Bulletin contains an interview with alumnus Roger Cheever '57, father of Chris '94, Whitney '97, and John '08, and grandfather of current DCD students Eloise, a third grader, and Jack, a first grader. Roger was interviewed by Nick Papps '95. Read the article based on his interview  here or click on the image below to read the entire issue.

Summer Volunteer Opportunity with Horizons at DCD

Horizons is offering mature high school and college students an opportunity to provide an important community service and learn the basics of working with children in a fun setting. Volunteers will assist lead teachers and teaching assistants and participate in Horizons daily activities. A typical day may include academics, computers, arts and music, swimming, mealtime, and sports. At the conclusion of their time with Horizons, volunteers will be asked to provide a written summary, including a brief personal reflection, about their community service experience at Horizons. If you are accepted to volunteer at Horizons, a parental permission form will be required. This form will be sent to you once you are accepted.
