St. Michael's Academy
 :

We finished the week with a school Mass celebrated by Fr. White from Mt. Carmel Church. Fr. White spoke with the students about how Jesus wants us to be his disciples and wants us to help spread his message. He continued by saying that one of the best ways we can do this is by carefully listening to His words and then trying to use those words to guide us in our own lives. It was the perfect message to hear as we depart for vacation. The perfect reminder to practice kindness and truly listen to one another and respond like Jesus would.

I hope everyone enjoys a fun and restful week off.

Peace and God's blessings,

Ms. Ann E. Dougal

TIME TO EVALUATE

February vacation is a good mid-year time to evaluate the condition of your child's school uniform. Are those pants getting short?  Do those shirts have stains or holes?  Is your child wearing the correct pieces of the uniform?  The right gym uniform?

Please be sure your child is properly attired in uniform for the second half of the year.

From The Classroom of Mrs. McQuade - Gr. 5

Math Fun in Grade 5

The 5th grade students in Mrs. McQuade's classroom had some fun this week finding the mean, median, and mode of different sets of data in math class this week. They began by learning how to find these measures of central tendency.

The students worked in small groups and used playing cards to create sets of data. Then they found the mean, median, and mode in order to describe the data.

 School Mass

We thank Fr. Robert White from Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church who celebrated Mass today with the students. Fr. White spoke to the students about the importance of listening and hearing the message.  He reminded them that at baptism, the priest blessed their ears and mouths so they could speak and hear the words of Jesus. To reinforce his point, he showed the students that he wears hearing aids to make sure he is able to listen.  He quizzed the students to see how well they were listening to the readings and Lucas from Grade 4 had the best listening ears and won a big container of Twizzlers!

We also thank our 6th grade students for hosting the Mass and doing a great job as readers, altar servers and choir members.

  100th Day of School

Kindergarten Celebrates 100 Days of School

It's time for the 100th day of school celebration!

The Kindergarten students had a blast counting 100 pieces of cereal and eating it for snack!  You couldn't miss the beautiful hats that they made with 100 letters, numbers, stickers, dots!

Guess what?  They are 100 days smarter!!

 10 Year Anniversaries

We have one more 10 year anniversary celebration to include! We couldn't forget Mrs. Mathews!  Congratulations to all of our SMA team members - we appreciate you!

Library Visit

4th Grade Gets Creative

The 4th grade students had a visit from the East Forest Park Library this week!  After hearing the exciting details of the new library that is being built, the students were able to create a list of what would be in their "dream library."  They were even able to get creative and make their own library floorplan using various crafting supplies, all provided by the Library. And to top it all off...each student received a free book!

Thank you East Forest Park Library!
