November begins with All Saints Day and ends near Advent, when we anticipate Christ’s coming again. So the readings for Sunday tell of the final resurrection and the end time. In the turmoil of hope, fear, and disbelief that these predictions provoke in us, The reading from Hebrews sounds a note of confident trust. Christ makes a way for us where there is no way, and we walk it confidently, our hearts and bodies washed in baptismal water, trusting the one who has promised. The more we see the last day approaching, the more important it is to meet together to provoke one another to love.

Operation Christmas Child
Shoebox Ministry
Advent is partnering with churches around the world to reach children worldwide with shoeboxes of love. Operation Christmas Child (
samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child
) sends shoeboxes filled with gifts to needy children around the world. These shoeboxes are sent along with Bible study materials to bring the Good News and the Gift of Jesus Christ to these children.
Last year we sent 29 shoeboxes that made their way to Malawi, Ukraine, South Sudan, and Colombia.
Please bring in your packed shoeboxes by Sunday, November 18
th
. Please include a donation of $9.00 for each shoebox to pay for shipping. Please also consider donating $6.00 to pay for Bible study materials for 1 child.
If you wish to donate cash or checks (Made out to Advent Lutheran Church), they may go in the offering in an envelope designated for “OCC Shoeboxes”.

The Parish Life Team is in need of volunteers to help set up and tear down from events and ministries from time to time throughout the year.
Can you help every once in a while? It's simple things like setting up and taking down tables, placing chairs, helping in the kitchen, filling water pitchers and making lemonade. It's putting on tablecloths and washing off tables. Many hands make light work and your help would go a long way!
NO MEETINGS! :-)
If you sign up below, all you're doing is saying that we can contact you with opportunities to pitch in. THANKS IN ADVANCE!
