St. Albert the Great, a doctor of the church, was born sometime before the year 1200. He grew up in a small village called Lauingen, which still stands today in present day Bavaria. He was a well-educated man, and attended the University of Padua. During his time there, he was greatly influenced by the writings of Aristotle and this would set a foundation for his own work. In the year 1223, St. Albert had a miraculous encounter with the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was so moved with this encounter that he decided to become a member of the Dominican Order and began to study the teachings of the church. He excelled in his studies and later became internationally recognized as a lecturer throughout his travels. St. Albert the Great was a deeply devout man and used prayer to mediate disputes between others. His impact on the Catholic Church was tremendous. He and along with his most famous student, St. Thomas of Aquinas, succeeded in incorporating Aristotelian philosophy into the Christian West. These writings have a great influence in how we understand an immense amount of our Church's doctrine today. St. Albert the Great died on November 15, 1280 and was beatified in 1622 by Pope Gregory XV. He is the patron saint of scientists.

Looking for a way to help others during the Holiday Season? The Giving Tree Committee will be making tags for the tree on Saturday, November 17th
in the rectory fireplace room at 1pm.
Then, on Saturday at 5pm Mass, the Giving Tree will be here! Please stop by the tree in the back of the church to chose a gift tag for someone in need. Gifts are accepted until Friday, December 14th.

Nativity Nights are an opportunity for you to come and spend some time with Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration. Join us Thursdays from 7-9pm
on December 4th, 11th
and 18th.
The Eucharist will be present on the altar in the monstrance surrounded by candlelight. The lights in the church will be dimmed and there will be Advent music playing in the background. Father Francis will also be available for the sacrament of reconciliation in the church during this time.
You certainly don't have to spend the entire time in prayer - people will come and go throughout the evening. You can spend just a few minutes in prayer or as much time as you like. This is simply a time for you to be free of the hustle and bustle that can sometimes overtake the Christmas season and just spend a few minutes in quiet prayer with Jesus.
