General Conference Information

The special session of General Conference is fast approaching. On February 23-26, in St. Louis, Missouri, 864 clergy and lay delegates from United Methodist Churches around the world will gather to make decisions regarding human sexuality, marriage equality, and ordination of LGBTQ+ persons.
Delegates from the Rio Texas Conference are providing a webinar informational session on Feb. 20 at 12pm. The webinar will be shown in the sanctuary.
Our children had a great time during our "Jesus Loves Me" Valentine's party yesterday creating Valentines for the Blessings Box. We learned about sharing the love we receive from God with our friends and neighbors!

But, even though the box may look full in this picture, it gets emptied almost daily. If you're able, please consider donating non-perishable food items, hygiene items and diapers. You can put your items directly into the Blessings Box, it is available 24/7!

Help us to share God's love and blessings to our neighbors!
KUMC Partnering with Kyle Elementary School

Kyle United Methodist Church is proud to be partnering with Kyle Elementary this year to build relationships with students and help improve the lives of children in our community. We would like to offer our time to mentor students, read to them and spend time eating lunch with them. We are also hoping to participate in the Backpack Program that they are starting to help fight food insecurity right in our backyard. Here are some ways you can participate:

Reading to students or eating lunch: Must fill out the VIP volunteer application with Hays CISD. Days and times are flexible. Coordinate with teachers and staff for times.

Mentoring students: Must fill out the VIP volunteer application with Hays CISD and commit to 30 minutes a day/1 day a week. Day and time at convenience of mentor. Currently need mentors for a 2nd grade boy and 4th grade boy. Click for more information on mentoring

Backpack Program: Currently in the planning stages but we are hoping to be able to sponsor students for this program for around $20 a month per student. More details to come.

If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the VIP volunteer application here and contact Childrens and Youth Director, Alissa Villarreal at childrenandyouth.kumc@gmail.com or Pastor Darlene at dboaz@riotx.org

Bible on Tap- New Location

Beginning Monday, February 11th at 6:30pm, Bible on Tap will move to Buck's Backyard in Buda. This hour long, weekly bible study will cover a current event topic that provides countless opportunities for discussion and biblical reference! There is nothing to prepare or study ahead of time.

Please join us for this relaxed and fun filled weekly gathering while we explore our current world and how our faith and the bible helps us navigate our daily lives!
Starting February 4, 2019, in the Wallace Classroom in the Family Life Center, the members of the Living the Questions Adult Sunday School class invite you to join in a study of John Wesley and Methodists, the beliefs and actions that started the group of believers called Methodists.

The class will consist of some readings, some presentations, and an extended dialogue about what it means to us today. Travel with us from Epworth, Lincolnshire in 1703 through time attending Oxford, during ordination in the Anglican church, on a trip to the New World in 1735 to preach in Georgia, and onward to return to England, Aldergate Street, and the continued the development of a group of Methodists, in both England and America, as Methodism was born. Live the Questions with us in the faith journey.

We invite you to join us at 10:00 on Sunday mornings this spring.

PRAY BALL Kicking For Winter

This, the Winter 2018-19 season will begin on December 7 and run through February 23, 2019. The 16 members of the team include Anne Duhon, Ariel Martin, Drew Guingrich, Emily Guingrich, Frankie Bates, Jeff Earle, Leslie Carrales, Mario Mata, Michael Martin, Paul Mojica, Sean Claes, Tammy Swaton, Thomas Simcoe, Ann Miller, Tabitha Phillips and John Rogers.

We will play Friday evenings. If you’d like to keep updated about PRAY BALL and the schedule, visit the team’s Facebook page -

Pray Ball is a mission of the church where we strive to be examples of Christians in the world and meet people where they are to pray with them and play a silly kids game.

PRAY HARD. PLAY HARD. HAVE FUN.
MIDWINTER UPDATE:

Due to low registration numbers, MidWinter will no longer be a weekend long event . They are now going to rent the Group Dining Hall at McKinney Falls State Park on February 23 from 10am-5pm. That will be our home base for the day. There is also an amphitheater nearby that we can use for worship. We'll have two times of worship, two breakout sessions, one or two meals, and plenty of free time that can be spent hanging out, playing games, fishing, and/or hiking trails. It will basically be a day trip to a state park with some spiritual programming sprinkled in. Total cost should be about $30 per person.

At this point, this is all I know. I will update you when I get more information, hopefully by the end of this week.
Join us for Food, fun and fellowship every Sunday from
6-8pm in the Family Life Center.
All 6th-12th graders and their friends are invited!

If you have any questions, please contact Youth Director, Alissa Villarreal at childrenandyouth.kumc@gmail.com .

Sunday Night Youth Group is starting back up again for 2019 and we need your help!

The first Sunday of the month we do a fellowship meal and all the other Sundays we just hang out and have snacks.

We could really use help with those meals and snacks! If you, your family, your ministry group or Sunday School group would like to sponsor a meal or snacks, please sign up below!

You are welcome to make a monetary donation, provide supplies for a meal, prepare a meal and drop it off or come prepare the meal on Sunday and stay to hang out! Our youth really appreciate the support of our congregation!
Join us Sundays at 10:00am in the Family Life Center for Sunday School.

  • More show than tell
Animated Bible story videos use visuals and sound effects, giving kids the opportunity to retell the story in their own words.

  • Bible-centered approach
Kids interact with the Bible in every lesson, following the arc of the biblical narrative.

  • Continue the conversation
Kids walk away from lessons, retelling the stories they’ve learned and taking home completed activities.

We'll have 3 classes for the Fall: Toddler-PreK, Kinder- 2nd, 3rd-5th grade
Youth Sunday School

Spending time in community with other believers is an important part of every student’s spiritual journey. That’s why Bible Studies for Life: Students is designed around a plan to help disciple to students with wisdom, starting with real-life issues and connecting them to God’s Word in an intentional way.
