National Signing Day 2019

Congratulations to the Bellaire Swim Team on their outstanding performance at Regionals.  Four boys are advancing to the State Championship (Feb 15 & 16).  Briggs Shiller has qualified as the top seed in the 200 free and 500 free and our boys 400 free relay is the 18th seed (of 24). 

New school records were set by Carrie Sansom in the 50 free (24.81), Briggs Shiller in the 100 free (46.31), 200 free (1:38.30) and the 500 free (4:26.89).  The boys set two relay school records:  the 200 free relay (1:27.64 - Joey Wendt, Sam Oncken, Alvin Oentoro, Briggs Shiller) and the 400 free relay (3:11.88 - Louis Diara, William He, Alvin Oentoro, Briggs Shiller).

SAT Prep Classes
Want to improve your test scores for the SAT? Ms. Chopra and Mr. Wolf are holding free SAT prep classes after school from 4:10-5:00pm. Mr. Wolf holds classes for the English part of the test on Wednesdays in room 353. Ms. Chopra holds classes for the Math part of the test on Thursdays in room 186. Contact Mr. Wolf, Ms. Chopra, or Ms. Mulet in the library for more details.
Mock ACT and SAT
To help you get an idea of what the ACT and SAT will be like, there will be a free Mock ACT at Bellaire on Saturday, March 23rd, in the cafeteria at 8:00 am. There will also be a free Mock SAT at Bellaire on Saturday, March 30th, in the cafeteria at 8:00 am. Both tests will take place in the cafeteria and check-in will begin at 7:30 am. You should bring your own calculator for the test. You must register at  https://www.testmasters.com/bellaire by Thursday, March 21st for the Mock ACT and by Thursday, March 28th for the Mock PSAT. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Mulet in the library.
STAAR Tutorials
Get one step closer to graduating by attending STAAR tutorials. Attending tutorials is an excellent way to get additional help so that you can pass the STAAR test needed for graduation. All STAAR tutorials are currently being held during lunch. Click here for the schedule and location.
National Honor Society
The Bellaire Chapter of the National Honor Society invites all sophomores and juniors having a 3.7 GPA or higher to consider joining our organization.
You must have a 3.7 GPA or higher to be considered as a possible candidate. To find your GPA, go to  Naviance.com and look under "Academics."

Girls Basketball Enters Playoff Action
The Lady Cards will take on Cy Creek in the first round of the state playoffs! Wishing all of our players and Coach Simons the best of luck.  Head to the Berry Center Monday evening. Tip off is at 7pm. #CardinalProud

FFA Showmanship and Prospect Show
Tomorrow, February 9th our Bellaire High School FFA students will be participating in a Showmanship and Prospect Show from 10am to 12pm.  The Bellaire Ag Barn is located at 11611 Riceville School Road, 77071.

National Hijab Day
February 1st was the National Hijab Day. Muslim Student Association at Bellaire High school hosted this event on January 31st. This event was a huge success. More than 300 students were able to attend to learn about Hijab from a great speaker, Ms. Safiya Ravat. Food was served and everyone was happy.Some students were able to try on the Hijab. Shout out to Ms. Halabi and the MSA club for organizing this successful event. #CardinalProud
TED X Event
The Bellaire TED X Club hosted its first TED X event Monday, February 1st. They had 8 wonderful speakers present Ted Talks. We look forward to this becoming an annual event on campus! #CardinalProud

Seniors
Make sure Transcripts and SAT/ACT Scores have been successfully sent for all December and January deadlines. And check your College Portals for any missing items.

FINAL FAFSA Roadshow is Thursday, February 7th from 2::00 P.M. - 4:30 P.M. in the College Center. If you haven't completed FAFSA, make plans to attend!

The last SAT for seniors is March 9th. The deadline to register is February 8th.

JUNIORS
The School Day SAT will be taking place on Tuesday, April 23rd. This will be a free test administered to all juniors to assist them with their post-high school plans. Link your College Board Account with Khan Academy (through the HUB Digital Resources) to start practicing TODAY!

Class of 2019 Graduation Date Announced
The Class of 2019's graduation ceremony will be held Saturday, June 8th at 7:00pm.  More information will be published closer to the ceremony.  Seating is open and we do not distribute tickets to students. There is plenty of room in the stadium for family and friends.
