A Message From Ken Yancey

I want to thank each and every one of our 10,000 volunteers for the contributions you make to your local business communities all year long. I especially want to commend you for the exceptional work you have done during the partial government shutdown. Those chapters that were unable to access their office spaces were  adaptable and resilient, and found alternate ways to continue serving their clients.  We at SCORE Headquarters appreciate your flexibility and willingness to do what it takes to meet your clients' needs during these challenging time. Your efforts mean so much to the business owners you serve.

Thank you.

SCORE Brand Guides

As a reminder, SCORE has released a Brand Guide.   As we have discussed, we need to increase awareness of all that SCORE's voluntee rs achieve. One of the ways to do that is to make sure we are all speaking about SCORE with the same, consistent message that resonates with what clients have told us they want and need. Please take a moment to become familiar with the  Abbreviated Brand Guide  as each of our volunteers are the face of SCORE.

The SCORE brand is what people think about us - the impressions when seeing our logo, hearing our name or experiencing our services. In order to present a consistent and effective image to our clients, it's vital that our branding stay fresh and up to date .

Note: Chapters are not expected to make these changes immediately. We ask that the appropriate changes to public facing materials are incorporated in chapter strategic and marketing plans for the next year. We understand changes to this degree take time, and please know your SCORE HQ Marketing team is available to help.

Diversity and Inclusion Update

How important is it to create a "diversity positive" culture in my small business?

Marc L. Goldberg, certified SCORE Mentor, answers that question in the Cape Cod Times. Sourcing from Infusionsoft Blogger, Ellis Friedman and Merrill Lynch "Minutes", Goldberg touches on why diversity is so crucial to the workplace.

Diversity helps to:
  • Decrease conflict
  • Promote innovation
  • Increase the market place
The article addresses how businesses need to cultivate a tolerant culture by promoting diversity and inclusiveness.

You can view the full article here. Thanks to Marc Goldberg for writing this very timely article geared towards small business owners. Diversity is important in ALL businesses.
