The 3rd Annual Stand Down to End Homelessness had over 100 community participants in attendance and over 40 vendors with services including: employment, education, housing/shelter, emergency food, veteran services and more. The Stand Down is focused on providing a "care fair" for any community member experiencing a housing crisis and veterans. This event allows community members a one-stop shop to community services and provides the opportunity to learn about services and set up appointments.

Thank you to all the non-profits, volunteers, vendors and sponsors that made this event possible. Stay tuned for more information on next year's event.

Thank you for such amazing support, we are stronger together!
Community Organizations Active In Disaster- Community Session

Volun-Beer
Volunteers came together to make an impact on Health, Education and Income/Financial Stability in our community! Volunteers created kits at each Volun-Beer event and learned about issues in our community.

Our events were focused on food scarcity, early literacy and basic needs. Volunteers created kits that included healthy and nutritious food items, early literacy activities and basic needs items. 300 kits were created in total and provided to United Way Funded Partners. Our Funded Partners were able to get the kits into the hands of community members that need it most.

Thank you to all the volunteers who donated their time to these events and thank you to Alliant Energy Foundation for providing the funds for the materials.
Thank you Dubuque Racing Association
United Way would like to thank the Dubuque Racing Association (DRA) for funds to support recent marketing efforts. Every budgeted dollar we can utilize to share our message helps us put more money into supporting quality non-profit programs that work to meet our mission of advancing health, education and income/financial stability for those in need in our community. Thank you DRA!
Upcoming Events
Read Across America
Mark your calendars for Monday March 2nd, 2020 when we celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday with Read Across America. Stay tuned for more information on signing up to volunteer to read to local students.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a refundable federal income tax credit for low-income working individuals and families. The EITC is designed to "make work pay" by supplementing low-wage work with additional income. The intention is to move a family with a full-time low-income worker above the poverty line. The goal is to benefit both the worker and any children and dependents that may rely on their limited income. The EITC was created in 1975, in part to offset the burden of increased social security payroll taxes on low-wage workers.

Operation: New View and AARP provide sites and services to prepare taxes for families and individuals who are eligible for EITC. The Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque and United Way support VITA efforts by assisting with marketing and gathering volunteers.

Volunteer opportunities are coming up for those who are interested! Keep your eyes open for this training and opportunity!
Mark your calendars for Over The Edge 2020 which will be held on Friday June 26th, 2020! Stay tuned for more information !!
