Helpful Happenings
with the PTO
|
What has the PTO been up to? We've been doing our best to be a resource for our teachers and students. Some of our recent and future activities:
- We had our first fundraiser as a new team when we held the Rummage Sale in October.
- We coordinated a successful Holiday Shoppe for our students, which was a lot of fun for them and us! It was a definite learning experience for us as new officers of the PTO, and we look forward to passing on that knowledge to next year's PTO.
- We supported Mrs. Day and the Student Council by donating $200 towards the Candy Cane Breakfast, helping them to keep more of their profits for the field trip. We also helped promote their event and coordinate volunteers.
- We have donated another $100 to the Student Council's Friendship Breakfast, which will take place on Saturday, February 9th.
- We're donating funds to Mrs. Eljoufri's second grade class to help them with their annual chick hatching project.
We have more in store for the coming months, so please keep an eye open for future announcements on the PTO facebook page. And feel free to contact us any time to shoot out some ideas you have in mind!

Friendship Breakfast:
Feb 9th 10am-Noon
|
Please note: We wanted to make a correction to this announcement - there is no holiday shop or book drive--just the breakfast!! :)
Student Council will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast to raise funds for the annual middle school field trip at the end of the year.
Please show them your support by joining them for a morning of delicious food and family fun.
The price is only $8 per plate or $20 for 3 plates. There will be pancakes, bacon, eggs, a yogurt bar, and more. YUM!
Please let us know if you will be attending, and be sure to share the invite with your family and friends!
P.S. We need VOLUNTEERS, DONATIONS, and we also need to
BORROW COOKING UTENSILS such as electric griddles, extension cords, spatulas, bowls, etc.
Please let Ms. V or Mrs Day know if you can help.

The Candy Cane Breakfast, hosted by Mrs Day and the Student Council, was a huge success, thanks to our volunteers and families! It was so uplifting to have everyone there, helping and supporting their cause. From donations of breakfast items to lending cooking utensils, to cooking, setting up, and tearing down, you really came through. THANK YOU!!
The Student Council will be doing another breakfast on Saturday Feb 9th, so we hope to see you all again!!

The Holiday Shoppe was quite popular with the students, and wow, did our volunteers give so much. The PTO purchased large quantities of gift items to keep the shoppe stocked, but it was the homemade items donated by some very generous family members that made it truly special. Volunteers helped all week to run the register and assist the younger students with their holiday shopping. We are truly grateful for your help and generosity!

Did you know:
Getting your clearances to volunteer at Young Scholars is
EASY and FREE?
It's required if you are going to work directly with students, such as when you want to help in the class room or field trip. You can find all the info by clicking the button below.
Give a copy of each item to the receptionist; the school keeps a binder of volunteer clearances at the front desk.
If you have submitted your clearances before, please check with Heather to see if you are still current!

Do you have ideas for the next PTO event? Do you have questions about the PTO and how you can participate? Would you like to make suggestions for the next meeting agenda? Does your child's classroom need something that the PTO could help with?
We want to hear from you, and we want to see you at our meetings!
The PTO works in partnership with the administration, teachers, & parents of YSWPCS. if you have concerns, questions, ideas, this is a great opportunity to discuss them, while you have Mr. Targut and teacher representatives present in a round table forum.
