HAGERSTOWN, MD (November 13, 2018) – The Washington County Board of County Commissioners is pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Eshleman to Director of Public Works effective upon the retirement of Jim Sterling.

Eshleman joined Washington County Government in 2009 as a Structural Engineer within the Division of Engineering. Most recently he served as Chief of Design, overseeing the design and engineering of the County’s capital improvement program as well as supporting the Division of Public Works on highway, park, transit, and facility improvement needs.

A native of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, Eshleman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and is a registered professional engineer. He is pursuing a Masters of Engineering degree in Project Management through the University of Maryland. He currently resides in Hagerstown with his wife and three boys.

I am very excited and appreciative to continue my service to the County as the new Director of Public Works. I look forward to managing the infrastructure and the great people within the Division to support and serve the citizens of Washington County," said Andrew Eshleman.

Retiring Director of Public Works Jim Sterling said, “Andrew will be a great addition to Public Works, he has worked with the departments for the last couple years and knows the operations and has the respect of the Department heads.”
