Dear St. George Families,
 
Happy Valentines Day!
 
I wanted to update you on the progress of our strategic planning process. We are in the data gathering phase of the process. We have surveyed our school staff and our 5 th through 8 th grade students to this point. Now it is time to gather data from our school parents. Below you will find a link to a short survey. The survey may look familiar to some of you as it is the survey that we used for our School Accreditation. We have utilized the information gathered from the survey to guide our School Improvement Plan in years past. This time we will be using the data to guide our 3-5 year Strategic Plan. Your input is needed and we are seeking 100% participation from all of our school families. The link is currently active and will be active until February 28 th. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey. The link is https://eprovesurveys.advanc-ed.org/surveys/#/action/98056/28200. As an extra incentive, if we get 80% participation from school families, students will earn an Out-Of-Uniform day later this year!

On February 26th our students will have a training/presentation from former East Baton Rouge Chief of Police Jeff LeDuff and his son Kelly LeDuff regarding our new "Blue Boxes" Security system. All parents are invited to attend, if you are available. We will have two
sessions which will be essentially the same so that you need not attend both. 
Session 1 for grades 6,7, 8 and parents of any grade 8:00am-9:00am 
 
Session 2 for grades 4,5 and parents of any grade 9:15-10:00

REGIONAL SCIENCE FAIR RESULTS
Several 8th grade students participated in the Regional Science Fair at LSU. The students did very well in the competition. Congratulations to the below students. We are Dragon Proud!

2019-2020 Before/After Care Enrollment

Re-enrollment for currently enrolled families, including new students who have a sibling already in the program, will begin on Monday, February 18. Enrollment for new students and other interested families will open on Monday, February 25 on a first come first serve basis. No forms will be accepted early. The last day of enrollment for all families is Friday, March 1. Enrollment forms and information will be posted on the school web site and RenWeb on the afternoon of February 15. Mark your calendars to honor our Faculty and staff during this week!
Monday, February 18th - Friday, February 22nd
Students are invited to participate each day!
Monday - Give your teacher a quarter. (The coke machine in                       the lounge is 50 cents.)
Tuesday - Bring a small surprise to the Art, Computer, Spanish, Guidance, Music, Library,                       P.E., or Religion teacher your child has that day.
Wednesday - Give your teacher a snack for fruit.
Thursday - Give your teacher a card, note or prayer.
Friday - Give your teacher a school supply.

Door Prized are Needed for the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon on February 21st

The Home and School Special Events Committee is accepting donations for door prizes to be given to our teachers at the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, February 21st. Each year the board is humbled by your generosity.

If you would like to donate an item (no amount is too big or too small), please send to the office with your name on it or you can contact Melissa Terrell, 225.485.9868. All individuals and/or businesses will be recognized at the luncheon and in Dragon Tales.

Spirit Day ~ April 5, 2019
Please co nsider volunteering for St. George Spirit Day on Friday, April 5, 2019. This is a wonder ful fun-filled day for  all!
To make this day a huge success for our students, we will nee d lots of parent volunteers. 
We ask you to please consider signing up for at least 2 fifty-minute  shifts. Thank you for sharing your time and talents for this special day, and we look forward to seeing you on April 5th!
