MS lawmakers protected our states most precious resource, our children, by not weakening our states childhood vaccination laws. Mississippi vaccination laws remain among the strongest in the nation. ALL Vaccination bills defeated in Mississippi Legislature.

Mississippi lawmakers headed the call from MSMA. As a result, Medicaid Physician Visit Limit Increase
The Division of Medicaid’s State Plan Amendment (SPA) 18-0020 Physician Visit Limit Increase has been approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). You can view the SPA and State Plan via this clickable link.

State Plan Amendment (SPA) 18-0020 Physician Visit Limit Increase has been approved to allow the Division of Medicaid to increase the physician office and outpatient hospital visit limit from twelve (12) to sixteen (16) per state fiscal year for both psychiatric and non-psychiatric services. These are two (2) separate service limits and both will be increased, effective January 1, 2019.

Central Medical Society hosted their quarterly meeting and invited non members to attend. A detailed newsletter will go out next week summarizing the meeting. Jennifer Bryan, MD, MSMA Board of Trustee Chair, introduced Claude Brunson, MD as Executive Director of MSMA.

“Physicians in Mississippi are on the front lines in the fight to make Mississippi a healthier state, and I am excited to be able to focus every day on supporting my colleagues through our state medical association,” Brunson said in a statement. “MSMA has for decades been a vital advocate for health care in Mississippi, and that role is more important today as we all face a rapidly changing health care environment.”

Kenneth Cleveland, MD

Dr. Cleveland graduated from the University Of Alabama School Of Medicine in 1995. He completed his surgical residency at University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2001. After completion of his residency, he practiced General Surgery in Jackson, MS. with Central Surgical Associates. While with Central Surgical he was the Chief of Surgery at Central Mississippi Medical Center and Restorative Care at Baptist Hospital. He also served As the Chief of Staff for Central Mississippi Medical Center.

Cleveland has also served as President of the Board for The Mississippi Society for Disabilities. More recently, he was the physician at Remedy True Health, a clinic specializing in weight loss. He is now the Executive Director of the Mississippi State Medical Board of Licensure.
