House of Prayer
is a gathering of God's people who value:
Welcoming,
Openness,
Compassionate Community,
and Relationships

Here is an update of what is happening at
House of Prayer this week!
Worship This Sunday
Then he looked up at his disciples and said: "Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. "Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled. "Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. "Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man (Luke 6:20-22).

Jesus never said discipleship would be easy. In fact, he was quite clear there would be hardships. Yet through those hardships, Jesus said the disciples would be blessed. Join us this Sunday as we learn more about what it means to be blessed in the kingdom of God.
Congregational Meeting Sunday
Immediately following the 9:30 am service this Sunday, February 17, the congregation will meet in the sanctuary to complete a ballot vote to decide whether to extend a formal call to Kelly Sandin as Associate Pastor at House of Prayer.  The Call Committee unanimously recommended and the Leadership Ministry Team (LMT) unanimously approved Minister Kelly Sandin for a ¾ call for Associate Pastor at House of Prayer. Please come for the meeting and vote.
Organic  Composting This Sunday
Have you wanted to compost but don't quite know how to get started? On February 17 between services, the Creation Care Team will have an exhibit to help you get you started. Rachel Lindholm from the City of Richfield will be here to answer questions about composting. Materials and products will also be available to help build confidence in doing your part to care for the environment. There might even be an opportunity to win something. Please come and learn.
Take the Discipleship Challenge
Pastor Ben wrote The Discipleship Challenge several years ago as a way to help people form spiritual habits. The Discipleship Challenge takes place during Lent (Ash Wednesday is March 6) and offers a daily schedule for spiritual discipline that will strengthen your prayer life, broaden your biblical literacy, help you be more generous with your time and money, and deepen your relationship with God and close friends. Sign up on the attendance card or email Pastor Ben at [email protected] if you would like to attend. Copies of the book are available for sale in the church office on Sundays and during the week. The cost of the book is $10 and all proceeds will fund our Lenten mission project through Lutheran World Hunger.

Let's Visit!
Would you like a visitor from one of our pastoral staff members? While we often hear of needs within the congregation, sometimes we are unaware of the needs within our family of faith. Pastor Ben or Minister Kelly would be happy to visit any of our members or friends who would like a pastoral visit. These visits could be health related but could be for any reason. Contact the church office via telephone 612-866-8471 or Pastor Ben via email [email protected].
