Dear friends,
I just learned, quite by accident and somewhat to my dismay, that the motto "Neither rain nor snow nor heat nor gloom of dark of night..." often ascribed to the heroic and faithful service of U.S. postal workers did not originate with the U.S. Post Office after all. Actually, it originated with the Greek scholar Herodotus, who was impressed with the grit and commitment of the Persians of his day. Nevertheless, I still love my mailman.
I also like to think Herodotus would be OK with ascribing his words to the heroic and faithful band of food shelf volunteers, local food vendors, postal workers, schools and faith communities, businesses and scouts and kids and donors of our community who continue to show up every day in every way to ensure that no person or family or child in our community goes hungry.
The Prevent Hunger campaign is one more way our community lights up his timeless characterization of heroic and faithful service with $200,000 and 100,000 pounds of food and goods. I think Herodotus would be proud.

PREVENT HUNGER CAMPAIGN, MARCH 1-31
Start planning your food and fund drive today!
The Prevent Hunger campaign is Interfaith Outreach's annual effort to address - and
prevent - hunger right here in the western suburbs.
The campaign kicks off March 1, with a goal of raising $200,000 and collecting 100,000 pounds of food shelf donations before March 31. But don't wait - find your fun and meaningful way to get involved!
- Organize a food and fund drive (view the group flyer, food and fund drive packet and full toolkit for ideas and resources)
- Make a financial gift online or send a check (memo line: Prevent Hunger). Every $1 donated allows us to source $9 worth of food and household items through our food partners. Learn more about the impact your dollars make.
- Bring most-needed items to Interfaith Outreach (view list)
Food donations are accepted from Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., at 1605 County Road 101 N in Plymouth. Schedule large donation drop-offs by calling 763-489-7530.

Please save the date for this true celebration of the thousands of friendships and partnerships that have shaped four decades of work together in support of local, struggling families, our neighbors.
This festive event starts with a social hour, bidding opportunities, live and silent auctions, dinner, stories of hope from program participants and the community, and ends with an after party not to be missed.
