February 16th ACA Lantern Festival
ACA grand Lantern Festival held at the Chinese Community Center in Madison Heights is coming this Saturday, Feb. 16th from 11AM to 3PM . Following the tradition, the Lantern Festival will have fun games, hand-crafting, delicious food and snacks, and a variety of performances expressing Chinese culture. Welcome all to join us to celebrate the lantern festival with fullness.
ACA annual Lantern Festival is the popular event that attracts people from all cultural backgrounds to experience the traditional Chinese New Year culture. This year is no exception. During the festival, you will see the tradition such as a variety of snacks, handmade games, spring couplets, calligraphy, handicrafts and face paintings. We will also have the volunteers from Wayne State University School of Medicine, who will provide free health screen to the general public during the program. And even more to be anticipated, there will be professional lion dance, cheongsam show, chorus, guzheng performance, solo, dance, Tai Chi and more specially arranged and rehearsed for the festival by various local groups and individuals, to display authentication of Chinese culture.
Food of this year not only follows the tradition, but also enriches the health and beauty plus the new additions. There will be Chinese savior crepe, Chinese hamburger, Mustard Greens pie, osmanthus fermented glutinous rice dumpling, Congee with pork and century eggs, spring rolls, Sui Mai, cakes, various milk teas, pumpkin pies, Green onion pancakes, radish cake and many other kinds. Unique and delicious Taiwan Gua Bao is new to the snack tables. If you don't know what a Gua Bao is, come and taste it. There is also a Sa-Cha sauce from Xiamen and a dedicatedly prepared soup base to make the sate noodles, which may bring you back to your hometown. Producing ramen noodles, dumplings and sweet dumplings on the spot will bring our food and snack section to the perfection and extreme. Surprises and satisfaction will be promised to everyone. ACA year of the Pig Lantern Festival is supported by 1st Michigan Realty, JZ Atelier Jewelry, 168 Group, Michigan Chinese Women's Association, FBI, Metro-Detroit Chinese Christian and Miss. Alliance Church, Wayne State University and Eastern Michigan University School of Medicine. Mayor of Madison Heights will also join to support the event.
 
In addition to the wonderful programs and rich in food, raffle drawing with prize, riddles guessing, red envelopes, festival special photography booths and other special activities will promote the unique festive atmosphere even further and will bring you the memorable personal experience.
