Reflections from Fr. Rick

GETTING TO KNOW YOU

St. Michael's is a growing community, and one of the MAIN reasons is that folks experience St. Michael's as a welcoming and loving community. Yet, with so many families worshipping at different times, it's challenging to get to know each other.

HERE ARE FOUR WAYS WE CAN GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER

#1 - JOIN US FOR COFFEE . When the service is over, don't rush to the parking lot. Take your time. Grab a cup of coffee in Quigley Hall and introduce yourself to someone. It's one of the best ways to connect.

#2 ATTEND SUPPER CLUB where you'll meet 50-60 people from St. Michael's in a fun atmosphere. Jon and Niki Nash are hosting Supper Club at their house on Friday February 22, 2019 at 6:00 pm. Please join us and bring your favorite dish and beverage for sharing with others. The fun starts at 6:00 and we look forward to seeing you!
You can RSVP Here

#3 - JOIN A LIFE GROUP . One of the best ways to "do life" with people is to join a small group. Whether it's 50 or 500 in a church service, it's tough to talk about life on Sunday morning. So, Life Groups that meet in homes throughout the week are a great way to meet folks and grow in your faith. Please email Ashleigh at [email protected]
for more information.

#4 - SERVE ONE HOUR PER WEEK . This is one of the best ways to get to know people. No matter your stage in life, there's a certain camaraderie from working together. Join us at our next "Connect and Serve" meeting on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 in the conference room from 6:30 pm - 8 pm when we'll discuss St. Michael's Outreach Strategy, past events (Serve the World Day experiences), upcoming events, and options for participation. Contact [email protected]
for more information.

These are four EASY but fun ways to connect and meet new people. I hope to see you soon!

In Christ's love,

Emotionally Healthy Spirituality

There is still time to sign-up! Starts this Sunday!

EMOTIONALLY HEALTHY LIFE GROUPS:  Learning to really love God, ourselves, and others. Emotionally Healthy Discipleship is a framework that directly addresses the reality that emotional maturity and spiritual maturity are inseparable. It is not possible to be spiritually mature while remaining emotionally immature. And, if we are to live out of our authentic selves, made in the image of Christ, we must slow down to cultivate an intimate relationship with Jesus and others.
DEEPLY CHANGING YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

Men's Ministry Exploratory Meeting, Sunday March 3rd

MEN:
YOUR MISSION, SHOULD YOU DECIDE TO ACCEPT IT...

ON MARCH 3RD AFTER THE 10:15 SERVICE , the men of St. Michael's are invited to gather for a few minutes for an informal, exploratory meeting to discuss needs, desires and possibilities of launching a men's ministry at St. Michael's.  Regardless of where you are in your journey of faith, your presence and ideas are welcomed.

The goal is to establish a core group who are willing to work together, assist in taking the lead and advancing the opportunities for this all-important ministry.

All are welcome, no RSVP is required!
Outreach

Connect and Serve Committee Meeting

Our next meeting of the Connect and Serve Committee will be on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 in the conference room from 6:30 pm - 8 pm
We will be discussing St. Michael's Outreach Strategy, past events (Serve the World Day experiences), upcoming events, and options for participation.

We will also entertain suggestion for future coffee hour presentations. If you have someone that you would like to suggest, please bring contact information.

All are welcome! Please let me know if childcare would make the difference in your attending. We would be happy to arrange it.

Our Ministry Partner, IDignity is having it's next client services event on February 21. We have the chance to get a behind the scenes look at what happens during one of these events and witness lives being changed firsthand. We will begin at 10 am and the tour will last for one hour. The tours are limited to 4-5 people, so please respond as quickly as possible to reserve your spot.

IDignity was created to help the disadvantaged in Central Florida through the complex steps of getting personal identification. Documents like birth certificates, Florida ID cards, and Social Security cards are essential for anyone to fully take part in society. During their January Client Services Event they had 223 total clients. Identification is the first step to getting off the street. See this amazing team in action.

Take Them A Meal
John and Millie Nowell

Our sweet John Nowell has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, so he and Millie could use some love, our prayers, as well as some food from us.  While they have no restrictions, John doesn't like curry.  What they both love is good old fashioned comfort food, and they love soup.  If preparing food, it would be helpful to make for 4 so they can have leftovers.

To sign up , please go to takethemameal.com, enter Nowell under Last Name and Nowell under the Password.  There you can find a day that is convenient for you.  And if you'd like to provide a meal but find your time limited, you can pick up from any nearby restaurant and deliver, or use UberEats to order and they pick up and deliver.  In any case, please go to the link and note that you are providing a meal.  The Nowell's address is 1406 Magna Court, Orlando 32804.  The best time to deliver food is between 4pm-5:30pm.

Ron and Mary Lu Nelson

Ron Nelson has had his knee replaced and he and Mary Lu would really appreciate some help for the next few weeks with food. There are no dietary restrictions and they enjoy most types of food. If you'd like to provide a meal for them, please use the sign up sheet so they'll know to expect you. And if you'd like to provide a meal but find your time limited, you can use UberEats to order and they pick up and deliver; or you can order from some of their favorites - Papa Johns, Olive Garden, Bahama Breeze, Tijuana Flats, Tornatore's and Brio - and deliver to them.  In any case, please sign up on the site.  Please call Ron or Mary Lu to arrange for a convenient time to deliver your food (2884 Naples Dr, Winter Park 32789).

To sign up, please go to  takethemameal.com, enter Nelson under Last Name and Nelson under the Password.  There you can find a day that is convenient for you.

The Niemas Family

This sweet St Michael's family is walking a journey, and would so appreciate help with 1 or 2 meals per week for the next month. We are feeding 4 people, 2 adults and 2 young children. One of the children does have a serious nut and shellfish allergy; and one of the adults does have an allergy to dairy (milk, cheese, cream, butter & yogurt). Generous portions would allow them leftovers. If you'd like to provide a meal and find your time limited, you can use UberEats to order and they pick up and deliver; or you can order from restaurants in the MetroWest area that delivers. Please call Arline at 321-246-3902 to schedule delivery of food. Arline also understands that her area is some distance from the church and she is willing to meet someone, or pick up the meal from the church herself, if necessary.

To sign up , please go to takethemameal.com, enter Niemas under Last Name and Niemas under the Password.  There you can find a day that is convenient for you.

Thank you so much for serving the Nowell, Nelson & Niemas families during this time.
