All welcome to attend the showing of documentary film,
Requim for a Running Back, at
Ursinus College, Olin Auditorium. Follow Director Rebecca Carpenter's odyssey across America, as she learns about the brain disease that enveloped her father, Lew Carpenter, star running back and assistant coach of the legendary Green Bay Packers.
Director Rebecca Carpenter's father, Lew Carpenter, was a running back for Vince Lombardi's NFL Champion Green Bay Packers. When he dies, her family receives a surprise call from Boston University's Ann McKee requesting his brain - with shocking results. Lew becomes the 18th NFL player diagnosed postmortem with Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative neurocognitive disorder that can cause episodes of rage, social withdrawal, and other unusual behaviors. Carpenter embarks on a three-year odyssey across America to explore the far-reaching implications of this "new" disease in football players. Through quirky and poignant visits with family friends, former NFL players, and headline-stealing scientists such as Dr. Bennet Omalu, Rebecca pursues a mystery decades in the making. From NFL Hall of Famers like Mike Ditka and James Lofton, to neuropathologist Dr. Ann McKee, she begins to understand the depression, obsessiveness, forgetfulness, and unpredictable temper that often complicated her relationship with her dad are common side effects of repeat blunt force trauma to the brain.

Community Music School presents Landscapes of Latin America Concert
Latin American music is its original blending of the variety of styles that arrived in The Americas and became influential, from the early Spanish and European Baroque to the contrasting beats of the African rhythms. One of the main characteristics of Latin American music is its diversity, from the lively rhythms and wonderful lyrical melodies. Spain as well as South America have long and rich musical history full of captivating sounds and characters. This program highlights some of the highly developed rhythmic patterns, featuring a number of styles, concepts, instrumentation and structures. For this program we will be performing music selections by Lecuona, Piazzolla, Fuentes and Villa-Lobos among others.

Wellness Coach, Hettie Stroebel invites you to attend "Enhance Your Wellness in 2019" workshop on December 1, 2018 at Hotel Fisole.
2019 is just around the corner! How can you enhance your wellness in the year to come? In our day to day busy and digitally overloaded lives, we often forget the most important player: ourselves. We do not experience enrichment of life through our careers. Living and playing have no place on our schedules. We may have good financial resources, but our application of them is poor. We all know the benefits of regular physical activity, healthy eating habits, strength and vitality as well as self-care and when to seek medical attention, but we spend our days sitting 8-10 hours, eat food with none if any nutrition and have chronic diseases. We often loose our self-esteem, self-control, and determination as a sense of direction. More than often creative and stimulating mental activities are lacking severely. We neglect to contribute directly to our environment and community. Our living spaces are often cluttered and disorganized. Many of us barely a have strong group of mutual interdependent friends. Do you identify with any of these challenges above or know someone who does?
