Tickets are now on sale for Festival in the Evening Sun, our summer party fundraiser for the Seattle Japanese Garden, on July 12. Sip on sake, savor traditional Japanese summer festival food, enjoy a jazz trio, and watch the sunset transform the landscape into majestic twilight. Many thanks for the amazing support we received during our GiveBIG spring appeal last month. A total of 186 donors gave $35,315 to the Arboretum during the Seattle Foundation's final GiveBIG event. Most of the gifts came through the GiveBIG website on May 9, but we also received a number of them through the regular mail in response to our GiveBIG-themed spring appeal letter.

June is rose month, and one of the most spectacular roses blooming in the Arboretum right now is Rosa mulliganii. Named for former Arboretum director Brian Mulligan, the rambling species rose can climb up to 40 feet high and produces dense clusters of fragrant white flowers with bright yellow stamens.
