We had another amazing week at Tangelo Park Elementary and the closing of January was phenomenal!
Celebrate Literacy Week
Tangelo Park Elementary was full of great opportunities for students to build fluency and increase their vocabulary and comprehension skills.
Thank You 4th & 5th Grade Parents
A special thank you to our 4th and 5th grade parents, family, students, and teachers who attended and participated in our 2nd Nine Weeks Academic Award Ceremonies on Friday, February 1, 2019. We are proud of the success of our students.

i-Ready Goal Achievement
Congratulations to many of our students who received Orlando Magic game tickets and T-shirts because of they met their i-Ready Reading and/or Math weekly goal of 45 minutes a week and at least 70% or higher of passing their i-Ready online weekly assessments. Good Job! We would like to encourage all Tigers to reach their weekly i-Ready GOALS!!!
Academic Family Night
Parents, please mark your calendar for the upcoming Academic Family Night, Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 5:30 p.m. Flyers went home with students on Friday, February 1, 2019. The flyers included detailed information as to what to expect and experience on this night.
Parents, please take the opportunity to attend this informative and educational night to learn more about the various spring Florida Dept. of Education assessments, i-Ready EOY (End of the Year) K-5, 3rd Grade Required Portfolio Reports, and the additional academic support and expectations your child will experience throughout the remainder of this school year.
Finally, we would like to encourage each of you to participate in our Grade Level Make & Take Learning Activities and learn more about home practice skills you can work on with your student.
2019 AdvancedED Survey
Parents and students, we would like to capture your thoughts, opinions, and suggestions about Tangelo Park Elementary by asking each of you to complete the 2018/2019 AdvancedED Survey. The AdvancedED Parent Survey completion deadline is Friday, March 15, 2019. However, we would like to meet our deadline sooner.
Students will have the opportunity to complete their survey during the school day before Thursday, February 7, 2019. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a raffle of FREE Fun Spot America Theme Park tickets! Thank you and have an OUTSTANDING week!

Dates to Watch For
February is Love the Bus Month and Black History Month!
Feb. 1: Start of Black History Month '19
Feb. 7: Visit from Southwest Middle for Rising 6th Graders
Feb. 14: Valentine's Day Parent Meetup - MPLC
We encourage our students to show their appreciation for their bus drivers throughout the month of February. Students can write a kind note, draw a picture, and say thank you. Our bus drivers are, for many Tangelo Park students, the very first and the very last OCPS representative they see each school day. Thank you!
Black History Month began last Friday across the United States. The Great Migration was the relocation of more than 6 million African Americans from the rural South to the cities of the North, Midwest and West from about 1916 to 1970.

New Technology in all the Classrooms!
Qball Microphones
Every classroom received a new Qball throwable wireless microphone that is connected to their audio enhancement system. The microphone is built into a foam ball that can be passed around the classroom as students participate in class discussions. It allows all of our students to speak through the microphone which as you can see below, they really enjoy!
