Contact Senate Insurance Committee and Ask for a NO Vote on SB 2689. They Meet at 3pm Today
BACKGROUND
:
Family doctors are vital to all communities especially in rural Mississippi. We provide treatment and overall care for all citizens. We monitor chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease while maintaining personal relationships with patients to ensure their overall health and well-being.
Telemedicine CANNOT be used to replace in-person visits with a physician who can provide the same services. Protecting the in-person doctor/patient relationship is essential to lowering health costs, increasing efficiency, and improving the quality of healthcare across our state.
Legislative Ask:
Reach out to members of the Senate Insurance Committee and ask them to VOTE NO on
SB 2689.
It's bad for health care, bad for patients and bad for communities. Removing geographical networks in telemedicine networks will allow big hospitals to use TV screens and apps on phones to see patients who could be treated in-person by a qualified physician who maintains the doctor/patient relationship in order to treat the patient's over health and well-being, including chronic disease management.

Dial the Mississippi Legislative Switchboard at (601) 359-3770 or call your senator directly. If you call the switchboard, it is imperative that you LEAVE A MESSAGE with your name and number, saying you are a family physician who lives in that person's district and you oppose the bill.
