News & Updates - January 2019
The Staff and Trustees of Jewish Child's Day would like to wish all their Supporters a very Happy and Healthy 2019.

Chanukah with Jewish Child's Day

On 14th December 1947, the first Sunday of Chanukah, Jewish children in the UK raised £14,000 to help displaced children from Europe who were less fortunate than themselves.

Since that very day, the philosophy behind Jewish Child's Day has never wavered and this Chanukah, we gave you the opportunity to give your child(ren) the greatest gift of all - the chance to make a difference to a child less fortunate than themselves.

Just before Chanukah, we opened a web store where you could buy a gift for a child in need.  We were blown away with how much people loved the concept.  Thank you to all those who bought gifts and we hope your children were happy with their Certificates of Thanks that we sent them.

Watch this space for next year!

Join us to Walk to Jerusalem November 2019

Last October 15 trekkers set off for Jewish Child's Day's inaugural trek - an amazing time was had by all as we trekked through the North of Israel. An incredible £60,000 was raised which will make a huge difference to thousands of Jewish children in need.

We are thrilled to announce that there will be an opportunity for anyone who missed out, to join us in November 2019 as we trek along the Burma Road ending up in Jerusalem and visiting Limor Spring, and Sataf National Park along the way.

We are planning to depart on Sunday 3rd November and will return on Thursday 7th - there will however be the opportunity to extend one's stay if you would like to experience a wonderful Shabbat in Jerusalem.

** Walk with me Gala Dinner **

With only 3 week to go, excitement is mounting for our Gala Dinner, on 5th February 2019 at a fantastic West End venue.

The theme for this year's dinner 'Walk With Me' resonates deeply with the charity which continues to ensure all children, whatever their needs, are supported every step of the way to ensure a better future. We are thrilled and indeed privileged that our guest speaker for the evening will be Eva Schloss MBE, holocaust survivor memoirist and stepdaughter of Otto Frank, the father of Anne and Margot Frank.

Tickets are selling fast but there are still a few places available if you would be interested in attending please email  [email protected]

If you are unable to attend, but would be interested in sponsoring an advert in our dinner brochure or a balloon in the name of a loved one, please contact [email protected]

Save the Date!

Once again our primary school annual fundraiser is almost upon us - 25th January and so far we have over 20 primary schools/nurseries signed up to support us.

The children go to school wearing blue and donate £1.00 - this year all proceeds raised will go towards feeding hungry children around the world.

Some of the Jewish Child's Day team are off to talk at some of the schools participating to explain to the children what an important cause they are helping and how lucky they are.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Twinning Programme

The Jewish Child's Day team will once again be present at the It's Your Affair Exhibition on Sunday 20th January at The Watford Hilton from 10.30-4.00pm.

Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to visit the one stop shop for all your Bar/Bat mitzvah needs.

Come along and talk to The Jewish Child's Day team about our popular Bar/Bat Mitzvah Twinning Program where your child is matched with an under privileged, sick or special needs child in Israel or Belarus.  Consistent with the whole philosophy behind Jewish Child's Day your child will be given the ideal opportunity to make an insurmountable difference to a child less fortunate than themselves.

To find out more about this amazing programme which teaches our children how fortunate they are please contact Samantha Glazer: [email protected] .
Spinning with Sinai

On 10th March 2019 we are collaborating with Sinai Jewish Primary School for an event called 'Spinning with Sinai'.

You can sign up and spin at either BURNR Gym studio, Mill Hill or David Lloyd Studio, Bushey.  There are two routes - Tel Aviv to Haifa - 57 miles or Tel Aviv to Netanya - 20 miles.  The proceeds will be split between Sinai PSA and Jewish Child's Day.  Sinai PSA funds will go towards school refurbishments and Jewish Child's Day will be donating bicycles to a special needs school here in the UK.

You can read more about registration fees etc by clicking here.

You can either start your own fundraising page or please share this link and start raising money.
